Mate, you are being way OTT in how hard you are marking the club.

What have you got to forgive? 4 flags? The club actively improving itself each trade period?

Yeah I know what we have achieved and it has been brilliant, Im just looking forward and I don't really see what we gain by this trade. IMO we could have still challenged in 2017 and we have thrown that away for a pick 50 or so.

I have. He hasn't played for two seasons, maybe Hawthorns management plan is about more than next year.
Are you talking about JOM from GCS or JOR from Hawks?

THIS IS ABSOLUTE RUBBISH!
NOTHING FOR HAWKS TO GAIN ! NO UPSIDE AT ALL.

We lose our best player. Our most important player. The central focus of our team and a massive finals performer.
And for what? Pick 33... insane.

The void he will leave will be monstrous. Has a good 50 more games to play for hawks at least.

Pure hubris from the administration, thinking we can compete with the top sides without him there. We will sink in 2017, no doubt about that. Jaeger and Tom are nowhere near this guy's league. One of the best players in the AFL.

We are being sold a lemon. The admin have stuffed this up and realised no salary cap space for JOM and TM.

Frankly, forget Jaeger. If this goes through I cannot see the point at all.

Basically appears that everyone wants to stay at Hawthorn and this latter coaching role for Sam was the only leverage they had to get anyone to leave: But Sam Mitchell playing or West Coast!!? for goodness sake.

Ropeable. Worst trade in my lifetime and I have been a member for 31 years.

If this goes through I for one will be disgusted.

just fuming over this so so angry....who knew simmonds was palesy with mitch, who knew his wife wanted to head west, who knew clarko would encourage it...geezus thanks for the heads up guys, it felt like somebody just punched me in the gut several times today/...i don;t care about vickery or JOM or TOM i just want our favourite son to have a farewell season give us a chance to say goodbye...oh but thats right its all about premierships...mmm funny that.... can't see us being a contender in 17 without Mitch:( understand its a long term thing but you don't use your B&F to do it!

Lets hope Wrighty drafts well with this Pick 51 we are going to get for him.

It's like being transported back in time and it's ground hog day with Clarko starting the rebuild

Do we recall what we thought of him at the time

Who is Alastair Clarkson: the club has appointed some unknown thug as our coach.

2004 AD.

Are you talking about JOM from GCS or JOR from Hawks?
JOR (ie. O'Rourke) has been playing at Box Hill for the last two years, with a few games at Hawthorn in that time. I'm guessing you're talking about JOM?
I just read JOM not JOR, my bad.

You are the most negative and whiny person ever. Christ

It is just so hard to emotionally invest, and watch my kids get emotionally invested, when this type of garbage is served up to the fans. The people who truly matter.

Much rather slide down the ladder with a sense of loyalty and integrity, than this ridiculous approach to bring in a guy who has not played for 2 years, at any cost...

What makes you so sure this is about getting JOM and not a combination of what Mitchell wants, and other plans the club may have?

just a tip, the club has a never ending supply of the number 3 for guernseys, and Im not talking about Lewis

I hate to see Mitch go, but fair call this. When we think of Derm do we visualise him in either a Swans or Pies jumper?

Unfortunately yes, I was young and for some reason when I think of him my mind goes to an interview of him in a Swans jumper saying they were the best bunch of guys he had played with.
Other than that I only remember watching him on tape.
At least I was old enough to enjoy Dunstalls epic performances later :)

Read between the lines.

Clark brings this up with Mitchell 2 weeks ago.

They realised that they cannot afford to bring in all of these players without going over the salary cap.

This is their last resort. They are selling it to us today to get us used to the idea. And they are also trying to sell it as some sort of positive. What is the positive? Salary cap space?

Clearly has everything to do with the new tradees

Could say the same about you, having a go at him when arguably our 2nd greatest ever player is being handed over for a packet of chips, I think he has a fair reason to be upset, champ
Every single one of their posts is like that.. every single one.

You should find a new team to follow.
If the only way we can compete next year is with Sam, then we are totally f@*%*& going forward.
You must have said the same thing when they were carting Mathews off the ground on broad shoulders.
Or any of our legends.
What a ridiculous melt.

You are very naive.

You are being sold a line because the administration have made a mistake with the salary cap and do not know how to fix it. This is their last resort. You and the rest of the fans are being sold a lemon.

If you think there is something to gain from this trade, I would be interested to know what it is.

Calm down mate. Like many of us Buckemenico is justifiably pissed off.....and is quite right to articulate his/her thoughts.

I have digested all sorts of opinions today and can understand some of the logic here.

However, for all of the logic, football is about passion and no matter which way I cut and dice this, the overriding thing is that a club and AFL legend will quite likely be running around in another team's jumper next season. And the thought of that makes me sick.

**** this. I don't really give a shit if it benefits the club, helps us get O'Meara or whatever, I'm being deprived of watching one of my favorite-ever players finish his career at Hawthorn. Emotionally this is about the most bullshit decision the club could've possibly made. Yes footy is a business but FFS Sam Mitchell is about as Hawthorn as you can get, he belongs in our jumper.

Very very unhappy with this news. VERY.

So we re-signed Sam on another contract because....

Right, the Hawks are shooting themselves in the foot so they can get through a trade they fudged up, makes sense? No not really. He's bloody 33 mate and we were bleeding in the middle last year with him or without him, 19th in total clearances is not up to his old standards and it's gonna get worse before it gets better, he's not the player you can stick at half back until 40.

I know I sound cold but the move makes sense to me, but more importantly it makes sense for Mitchell and it makes sense to Clarko and the Hawks.

Totally agree. He will always be a Hawthorn legend no matter how much football he will play for West Coast.

Could hear the excitement in his voice at the prospect of a new challenge, plus for family reasons it makes sense for him to move over this season.

I'm also upset Mitchell is going, but remember he has a contract. If he wanted to stay he could. Sounds to me like both Mitchell and the club truly see this as a win-win. Mitchell has been my favourite player for many years, and it is surely a sad day, but if Sam is happy, I'm happy. Anyone who says otherwise is very ungrateful, given he was a big part of us having 4 flags in 8 years.
