Sam Newman's tip

i did see the footy show last night, but if it is true he tipped adelaide by 40+ points, we may have something to worry about!...(i dont mind him) but most ppl hate him,.,,,but ya have to admit...he is rarely wrong about Geelong....last year rd 3, he tipped hawks by 50+ pointa after we smashed the roos n lions...but oh well, lets just hope it wasnt inface him!

I think he, like alot in the media and other supporters are just waiting for us to slip up. This would be the type of game we have been known to drop. We are flying, the opposition have a few injuries, interstate game...has all the makings of loss, and if this happens you can bet your life that everyone will come out and tell us how we are no good and we always drop these games. We just need to be able to deal with this scrutiny that comes from been the 'in-form' side and premiership favourite (after this game anyway) at the moment.

I think we should beat Adelaide quiet easily. The problem i dont think is overcoming them (they have a few injuries and are very down on form) but overcoming the flood they apply. They have admitted they cant match it with us 1 on 1 so will try and turn this into a VERY low scoring affair. Hard to tip games like that.

Its annoying because that line infers that we are monty's and that we shoot ourselves in the foot. Adelaide in Adelaide is NEVER a monty! Is every game for the rest of the season going to be "the one we usually drop"? (Specially the granny, given our record...). People need to get over it. They may win, they may lose - its got nothing to do with history!!

I'll answer that - yes. Geelong can't complain about it, either supporters or the club. They've underperformed and let themselves down so many times that it's going to take something pretty special and sustained to convince people this team is different. That's just the way it is.

Adelaide is a huge challenge. Best thing to do is just play the hard, relentless footy they have been and get over the line. Nothing else matters.

I so disagree!

He is the most arrogant, self-opinionated, condescending man in the media/footy/Geelong/Australia.

He is crude, obnoxious, misogynous, and innappropriate and he is always critical of Geelong whether they win or lose.
If they lose it's cause they don't play football the "Newman Way" and if they win it's only because they've somehow tuned into the Newman cosmos. He is an embarrassment to Geelong. He is the reason I avoid the Footy Show. He is repulsive. Look at the way he behaves on Street Talk and the feral element he attracts and encourages and the sexual innuendo he thrives on. I genuinely wish he was not a Geelong player, and I grew up watching him at Kardinia Park.

Sorry but I just can't stand him and his arrogance.
What will he say and do if Geelong win the flag, "They would have won it years ago if they'd only listened to me"? Does anyone seriously believe he knows anything about modern football?

Oddly the same day I posted the Missus work had some dealings with Newman. Apparently he really is a jerk. I'd always thought it was just an act!

(Of course it could always have been Startin pretending to be Newman but really you'd have to be an idiot to confuse the two)

Yup I was wrong about it being him. Think I was on the money about being the most embarrassing 300 game player for any club though!

I notice in yesterday's paper that he bingled his Lamborghini this week, so maybe that's why he was in a poor mood... God knows I would be!

On TFS for every game when asked for his tips doesn't he usually start with "I wouldn't know".

Apologies, I should also have mentioned his comments that Geelong had essentially no chance.

He did exactly the same thing for Sydney for every game last year, and they got into the Grand Final. Maybe it's a good omen.
