...

If it meant retaining Bev - would you do it?
Yes, but not just because it meant keeping Bev as head coach.

It would be because he could move up to another level like a Wenger (early in his career) or a Ferguson. It would enable him to create a vision of the list he wants and the type of game he wants them to play ... and then go out and get that list. It's an exciting concept. There's both risk and potential reward because it puts all the eggs in the one basket.

And as you say, why not be the trendsetter in this regard?

Sam Powers first test over this year in particluar is ensuring our current guns who are soon to move into the Free Agency sphere in the next 2 to 3 years are signed on for long term contracts. This, FA, has been the biggest change in list building since the draft and salary cap came in an has turned on its head the value or not of long term contracts

Priority no 1 - re-sign Toby McLean. Get. It. Done.
The kid's probably our best bet of producing another A grader from our list and is on the way. Right now Bonti (when fit) and Macrae are it, although JJ has shown flashes and is being thrown around all over the place for the benefit of the team.

I still think English will get there too but not until he's got a few pre-seasons under his belt. Toby simply has to be our no 1 priority at the moment.
