After the news on Garner, i thought about the other bloke thats been hampered with injury lately. Anyone know how Sam has been going ? been waiting at least 12 months to see this kid play
Same.He has been back at training for nearly a month now so hopefully if we beat the bombers he will play against the pies or in the nab cup grand final if we make it!

He wont be right till at least round 6, ive been told brisbane want to give his body a good rest. so no NAB action for him

AFLQ practice match vs Mt Gravatt

Sam Sheldon returned to the field for the first time in 2009 after a bout of Glandular Fever disrupted his pre-season campaign.

Adrian Fletcher

Had osteitis pubis and missed most of last year then got hit by glandular fever so it’s been a rough run. Been training the last month and still filling into his body and getting back his strength.

I naturally hope Sam can come out and play like a champ, but we must give him quite a bit of slack, possibly even for the next 2 seasons, due to his bout of glandular fever......unfortunately, it takes so long to get over..feel a million dollars one minute, then whammo, completely zonked the next..

I really hope this doesn't happen to him.......but it could......its a bugger of a thing to get..

Yep. Can very easily develop into CFS if not carefully managed. Would hate to see Sam go through what Lynchy did.

And, with absolutely no medical basis for saying this, glandular seems to hit athletic, fit people particularly hard. I know someone who was lined up for a trial with a Melbourne club one summer many years ago. Missed out with glandular fever. Missed a substantial proportion of yr 12. Missed the next season of footy. Felt weak for the season after that. Two seasons and a promising career wrecked and an education harmed. Sam's doing well to be back out there and going OK.

Hope to see Sam playing soon really want to see what this kid can do. And if looks a player we can troll some Carlton fans;)

Kicked 2 goals and got 7 possies in the first 10 minutes of a match before taken off with an injury (broken leg or something). It was round 1 of nab cup 2007 in carins against st kilda when it really rained hard!Havent seen him in seniors or nab cup/challenge match since.Just for the lions reserves (at the time suncoast).

He seems like our goal crumbing answer if you ask me.Can get lots of the ball but can also go forward and kick some goals! He is a very accurate kick. How did he go in the lions reserves match against mt gravatt.Saw him named in the best(courtesy to browndog) so i hope he played well and gets chosen in the coming weeks.Im on the bandwagon i have always really liked him but never got on the bandwagon.I love this kid!:D

The player the Lions see as a long term midfielder-half forward is Sam Sheldon, but his slight frame continues to count against him at the selection table.

Sheldon oozes class and the match committee are desperate to see him in action at senior level, but have yet to take the gamble, and Sydney are not the side many coaches would be willing to throw an untried youngster against.

Size isn't everything:D Just look at Garlett from Carlton, Quinn from Essendon, the list goes on. If Sheldon can play regular 2s footy and shows plenty then he will play regardless of build.

AFLQ

Young rover Sam Sheldon was a standout for the Brisbane Lions reserves as they fell just short of beating the best team in the AFLQ Velocity Sports Cup on Saturday.
