I've noticed dockers have done well to have contracted pretty much their entire best 22 already except this small forward who is a free agent

30 later in the year does he manage to get a better deal to come home for 3 years?

I wouldn’t go so far as to call him a jet but he can have games where his output is very influential

- which kinda does roll into your point of Freo advancing further in September last yr if he was available,as his importance/impact on our team is massive

it’ll actually be an interesting watch on how Freo approach his nxt contract ,very highly regarded internally at freo(for the aforementioned above plus leadership) but he’s certainly had a Chequered career injury wise .

Missed some big chunks of footy over the journey .

As well as whilst being highly influential in that HHF /connector roll ,he’s goal scoring output for a player of his calibre and position is actually pretty abysmal .

At least wallsy and co have finally gone some meaningful way of addressing our weakness in the role he plays (I’d say our loss to GC in that final when he didn’t play as you alluded to ,was what forced our recruiters to get serious)by basically only drafting small/medium forward pocket /half forwards last year.

Would be annoying to lose him (unless someone really jumps up this yr in a similar role) but he’s exactly the type of player we “can’t” afford to overpay.

TL;DR…

- He’s most definitely gettable but like with most of these deals it will still take a decent offer from another club to pry him out me thinks

To be clear, the only thing stopping him from playing more games has been injury (hasn't played WAFL since round 1 2019)

He has 0 need to go to WC, Vic clubs will take him on board if he wanted to head home, Hawks the most likely, they love a small forward and his best mate is big Lloyd

Freo will not let go of him purposely, he is the exact player we do not have enough of, pressure forward who is creative.

His notable deficiency (except injury) over his career has been goal kicking, something a team like the Hawks are not lacking

Of our whole team he is the player you want kicking I50 though (excluding Bruce who is exceptional)

I'd wager we sign him fairly early on unless he wants to head home to end his career (which has been rumoured a little bit on our board over the past year but 0 actual notable sources)

Elite role player but 30 and injury prone, losing him for the GC final killed us. Wouldnt begrudge him getting a pay check to wrap up his career but he wouldnt be leaving because we dont want him

He's been voted into the leadership group for a 2nd year in a row. He isn't a fringe player at all.

Leadership and football ability are 2 different things

Eagles have Flynn in the leadership group but he should be playing WAFL reserves

Little risky, but as an UFA someone would definitely offer it id think.

Obviously nothings a given until the inks dry but pretty strong indication from the man himself.

Guess Freo will be stuck with this old ,injury prone fringe player that we don’t need for the next 2/3 years

Can't see him going anywhere, hope we sign him up. Pleased to see opposition supporters rating him highly, he does alot more then what the stat sheet shows, and someone not rating him shows they are a true nuffy with little to no football knowledge.
