I know the family a bit. Nothing crazy close or worthy of inside information, but he doesn't have any connection to Geelong that makes us stand out as an option.

If he just wants to come to a contending club then we're always a chance, but he's just as likely to go to Hawthorn, interstate, or stay at Carlton as captain IMO.

The Geelong link is tenuous at best. The family moved around a heap when he was a kid. It's not even really "home" to him.

I disagree with all of this. If a kid has drafted from the Geelong Falcons next to his name, he is as rightfully ours to claim as the Promised Land is to Abraham's descendants.
