When Walsh did his back he said he hid it from the physio's because he wanted to keep playing through it, he also mentioned that if he didn't do that he likely wouldn't have required surgery.

Is that his fault or the clubs?

Both the player's and the club’s fault. Walsh for aggrevating the injury and the club for not spotting.

Talking more for other clubs like Geelong who are interested.
I would not touch him due to the injuries he has had his back is cooked too.
Like I said - you don’t have to worry :).

He won’t come within a mile of the mighty Tigers.

I think primarily the club IF they foster an environment where the incentive is to hide and play through injuries.

Primarily the player if he went against club norms by doing that.

From reading that, I would put money on the former. But I neither have any real knowledge or buy-in here so grains of salt.

It was end of 2022 when we were trying to break into finals for the first time in years. Walsh wanted to keep playing through it to get the team across the line.

Club found about it after the Melbourne game where his GPS numbers were shot and benched him for the last game.

If you are keeping your star out because of a "blister" ....something tells me he has walked out and put a price on his head.

Come on Blues own up !!

Why would the club be cat scanning his back if he wasn't reporting any discomfort?

That is entirely on Walsh.
If Walsh didn't want to talk about an injury - something that would clearly impact his and the teams performance. It would seem the environment isn't one where players feel like they can and should speak openly with medical and coaching groups.

acting like that hurts both the player and the team.

He might have had some reservations how other players suffering injury had been managed which impacted his judgement around this issues.

Nonsense. Walsh is a manic competitor, nothing else to the story.

Like saying Geelong's culture was bad because Stevie J faked his fitness test before the grand final after busting it at the pub.

Culture has nothing to do with it. Players want to play in important games for the club whether they're a bit banged up or not.

Common sense would suggest that you don't need X-rays and a five to six week recovery period for a blister (unless it's an extremely serious one). AI doesn't have common sense so you shouldn't take those responses at face value.

I don't know a thing about Sam Walsh's injury, but I do know that when Essendon players have 'hot spots' in their feet that make it to the injury list, it's usually an issue with the bones, something similar to bone bruising and milder than a fracture.

Here's a snippet from the Physiopedia website:

Clubs do unnecessary/precautionary scans all the time. They also manage their loads in-game and during the week.

Walsh has also suffered his fair share of soft tissue injuries. I know it’s hard to predict or plan for those, but it seems like he's constantly injured.

Don't take it personally, it's just an observation.
