Sam Walsh
Averaging 29 disposals for Geelong Falcons in the TAC Cup and 20.5 for Victoria Country through the Under-18 Championships, Walsh is arguably the most prolific midfielder in the 2018 draft class. Able to play inside or outside, he has strong contested ball-winning capabilities and also breaks the lines on the outside.

Knightmare's comments on him from one of his games in May this year:

Bottom-age midfielder Sam Walsh gathered 34 disposals, 18 contested possessions, six tackles, eight clearances and eight inside 50s. From his three TAC Cup games, he has not dropped below 28 disposals.

Matt Balmer's notes on his TAC Cup GF:

#22 Sam Walsh – The bottom-ager is arguably the best midfielder in the 2018 NAB AFL Draft. Walsh led the stats sheet with 30 disposals, seven inside 50s and won five clearances. Walsh linked up well on the outside and worked very hard at the stoppages. Whilst not all his kicks inside 50 were effective, his ball winning ability is outstanding

Fagan has stated that in the 2017 draft he would have liked to target a mid who can play inside and out. This wasn’t really done in this draft with Rayner, Bailey and Starcevich but Walsh might just be that mid Fagan was talking about. On the Lions board it is definitely out of Rankine (style) and Walsh (substance).

Wont be around when we pick but he was training with the 1-4 year GFC players before Xmas....

And we were watching closely....

Has "it"

When I look at Walsh I see similar things to Lachie Whitfield. Similar height, similar weight and build. Both run a 16 beeper. Ave similar numbers at champs.

Maybe Whitfield is a better kick and Walsh more contested.
