or an honest assesment of a team I follow week in week out for 35 years.........we arnt shot by anymeans, but same conclusions when in big games in the last two years. Look at last years gf. Same as tonight. There are some flaws in our game plan that need tinkering with........
Problem is mate that just because you have followed a club for 35 years....doesn't mean you know shit about football or that you have to be negative about our 3rd loss after 10 wins in a row. People should just chill for a few hours or days...however long they need then discuss what needs improvement.

This is pretty much as simple as this...we are now Carltons bitches. Welcome back to the 90s boys, enjoy your stay.

I'm sure we'll still make top 4, but you can't win a flag losing to a team twice in one season. It means you don't learn from your mistakes.

We were outplayed by a better side on the night. We just need to suck it up. 10 wins in a row will take its toll.

It was always a danger game which I mentioned 3 posts ago and anyone who thought otherwise either overrates us, despite a lot of our good players absent and undermines the way the Blues come up against us. Yes, we could have and should have smashed them on form, but we didn't.

No need to bag our team because of this loss. Upsets happen all the time and this year these types have been more prevalent... Let's just focus on next week.

Absolute crap. Carlton aren't finishing in the top 4 or maybe even the top 8.
This isn't like Geelong last year. Different footy team and playing group.

Spot on, Essendon lost to Melbourne for christ sake. No one is writing them off!

My point is, you won't win a flag if you don't learn from your mistakes. Like, round 3, I'm not going to panic, like I said, we'll still make top 4. But I'm not sure we'll have what it takes to go all the way when the heat is really on. Hopefully I'm wrong. Things always look worse after a gutting loss though.

We got exposed be the oppositions small forwards again, we are lacking small quick defenders to stop betts rioli Milne Ballantine etc

When the pressure is on, we really go missing as a team. Cannot kick straight for goal. Cloke has to come a long way up the ground and therefore we have no forward marking options in forward 50. Quick ball movement really shows us up. As good as our backline is, we cannot play one on one. Exposed way to many time in the last two years.

We won the last 10 Games and that was against some very good Sides.

We never been able to Kick Straight.

The 1 thing I notice when we play Crap like this we just Bomb the Ball to anywhere and don't look

Carlton beat us whenever it suits them. That gets ******* old.

As far as the season goes it's only really problematic because our percentage is average.

The first sentence is what frustrates me most. Beating us means something to them and after the humiliation they handed us 10 weeks ago I thought we'd come out breathing fire, but there was nothing.

Don't really understand the same old Collingwood sentiment from the OP though. Because from where I'm sitting Carlton have our game plan sussed considering we allow the likes of Yarran and Judd to do what they want while being slower than them in almost every position on the field.

Brisbane lost to Sydney twice in 03.
We beat Melbourne and then drew in 2010.
Pretty sure history is littered with other examples.
Too many factors to take into account other than being a team's bitches. Damn I hope it was part of your bet that you had to write that first line.

Everyone take a big deep breath, it's now the 7th of July and Round 15. To date we have 3 losses, are currently positioned within the top 4 and we have just suffered our first defeat after 10 straight wins. We have managed to do so with most of our absolute prime movers missing some portions of the season. Our kids and fringe players have stepped up and covered significant holes for the majority of the season. The improvement/potential shown from players such as Sinclair, Fasolo, Elliot, Blair, Beams, Sidebottom, Goldsack and co does not go down the gurgler after 1 poor loss. To whoever thinks we can't win the flag because we've lost 2 games to Carlton, pull your head out of your backside. Whilst I am a relatively young Magpie fan, for the past 5 or so years I cannot fault the direction the club has taken, whether it be drafting, trading, coaching staff, off-field work, player development or whatever. The fact of the matter is we have the very best people available working in our corner to make our side the best side in the competition. We also have arguably the best list of players to pick from in the AFL. I will sit back and let Bucks and his coaching staff along with the leadership group and playing group do their job which is to win games of football. Who am I to question the work ethic and desire of these people? Yes Simon Buckley might turn the ball over, yes Travis may miss shots on goal and yes Dawes may not take 10 contested grabs a game, but the fact of the matter is that the reason they are representing our club is because they are much more talented than you or I and have put in many more hours of work in the gym and on the track than you and I. Therefore, I will not criticise them because I'm upset after a bad loss, but instead I will support every player, staff member and volunteer to the hilt. If any of you people could do better then you would currently be employed by the Collingwood Football Club instead of those who currently hold positions. So until such time as you are in the inner sanctum and part of the operations of the club, stop carrying on like a bunch of Richmond supporters and get a grip on reality. Yes losing to the scum hurts, by God having their supporters rub it in our faces tonight hurt, but we will have the last laugh because we are better than them. Now as I said, everybody take a deep breath and relax, have some faith that the people in charge of this mighty club know what they're doing.

I can understand that we were breathing fire before tonight's game but in the eyes of the players and coaches, it's business as usual in terms of preparation. Whether that's a symptom of MM's reign where he played down rivalry and atoning for past losses, I don't know. The players (bar Maxwell) don't have the same hatred for a club that we have. I hate Carlton because of the GF losses and tanking. Most of the players grew up barracking for other teams so the history and rivalry means nothing to them.
Put our thoughts in their heads and we'd have half the team suffering Wellingham's fate at the tribunal.

We won the 1990 flag losing to Essendon twice in the home and away season:eek:

One move that counted against us was subbing Paine early in the 3rd quarter, only to have Williams go out with an injury. This seemed a poor coaching move in retrospect, because Sinclair did little and Paine kicked his 2nd goal on his way off the ground. Being a player down limited our rotations. Bucks had an ordinary night.

Those suggesting this loss is not so bad because we were due for one, do you conveniently forget who beat us and how many times this season they have now won? Many posters made their hatred for carlton abundantly clear, but now the scum have made us look 3rd rate.

Suddenly our season looks signifigantly different. Wellingham is gone for 3-4 weeks, Thomas is playing unimpressive football, Jolly has become the bitch of Kruezer and looks seriously limited now, Swan, Beams, Sidebottom and our other mids were consistently beaten by
Carlton's crew, our defenders were beaten by pace, their delivery was great and ours was dreadful, and a number of young players, like Elliott, Paine and Williams were a bit exposed. The ease with which carlton moved the ball from our forward line then destroyed us with the pace of players like Garlett and Betts was worrying.

Dawes tried to bulldoze through packs and was caught everytime. He makes ordinary opponents with no form look like champions. Cloke is starting to seem less important than a class ruckman after watching Kruezer give his mids first use of the ball. There was nothing positive for us to come out of the game. We have said many nasty words about Carlton all week and they have spanked us. This is the ultimate humiliation.

We played our best two games this year against your mob. But to be honest I would prefer to be in your position as I think your the best team this year. Not trolling guys just being honest.
Good luck for the rest of the year :thumbsu:

I think a lot of your supporters are being a bit hard on your team, Carlton matches up well against the pies and Swan decides to take a week of against us it seems (stats will say otherwise but he didn't have anywhere near his usual impact in either game).
For all of the bitching by Blues supporters about our injuries, they're nothing compared to the Pies injury list. So a few of those players slotting back into the side will help things immensely. A few of the younger Magpies players may have been thrown into the side when they may not be ready/deserving due to the aforementioned injuries. Chances are the Pies will bounce back strongly next week and are my tip to win it all this season. All the best for the remainder of the year fellas, providing we don't cross paths in the finals, of course.:thumbsu:

Good ol collingwood forever, we know how to drop the game. Side by side we stick together. But only when the pressure is off!
