good on him, and it is about time, but once again shows a flaw, because he played well but he has played better, and I would dare say there would've been others who should've got it in front of him for this week, but despite being a weekly nomination award (presumably based on the best performance for that week) it seems to be given to the kid who has been the best over the course of the year who is yet to recieve a nomination.

I reckon he's got a good chance of winning the whole thing.....although Luke Ball from St.Kilda would be favourite at this stage

We all know that Kerr and Judd were robbed for the Rising Star Award, but surely they can't get it wrong 3 years in a row!

Well done Samps, loved the way you did a 360 spin around to kick that goal on the weekend. If Scotty Cummings tried to do it, his turning circle was like a 747 at Perth Airport!

Kerr was robbed, Judd was unlucky as Riewoldt was in his second year but still deserved to win it, Samps could fall in the same boat, as Ball is looking the goods, long way to go though.
Great to see him nominated though and barring injury will go close.

Brennan's had one good game, Goddard's had two.
Sampi's had at least three of real note whilst Ball has been in the Saints midfield for every game this year and amassed notable possessions in every one.
Long way to go, but Ball from Sampi at this stage.

Probably a culmination of the last few weeks. IMO he actually has a shot at it. About a month ago I didnt think anyone from WC would challenge for the award this season but Sampi has been very impressive.

Good news, he's fully deserved it after his past couple of weeks.
Hang on, he didn't do all that much against Geelong... just kicked that freak soccer goal in the last quarter.

Seriously though, good luck to the kid as I reckon he is one of the most exciting young players to watch when he is in form.

He actually kicked 3 goals for the game IIRC, one was a brilliant finish on his left from just inside fifty after evading a couple of tacklers......
