I'm a fan of Sampi and would like to see him back in the team in '07. We all know the kid can play, he just needs to get his body and mind where it should be.

Just read this article on AFL.com and it looks like Sampi will be putting in the hard work over summer to get himself right for next year (hopefully).

http://afl.com.au/default.asp?pg=news&spg=display&articleid=301386

Both of us got very emotional at the parade yesterday. Emotionally, we were disappointed this morning and afterwards," said Sampi.

"We spoke to David Hart and with him missing out in 1992, he just gave us a few words of comfort. And that's when we looked at each other and said we'll be back next year."

Unfortunately for the pair, who Sampi said had taken the win 'very hard', injury played a major part in ruining their premiership dreams and both were not considered for Grand Final selection.

The pain of missing out on this year's glory, Sampi said, would spur him on to greater things in 2007 and get rid of the mixed emotions he was currently feeling.

"(It) makes me want to start training straight away. Next year's the one. Hopefully we can go back to back. As you said we're still a young side and we want to do it next year as well," he said.

"A bit of mixed emotions deep down. I want to celebrate with the side. Deep down personally, you just want to be out there."

Ummmm!

Talks cheap:rolleyes: , lets see what weight he returns to training at.
No doubt he has all the tools just needs to get his act / attitude in order.

If you leave the door open the chances are that someone else ( Le Cras ) may sneek in and then you have been overtaken.

Lets hope it is a reality check and wake up call.:thumbsu:

Obviously, but it's good he has come out and actually said he is willing to put in the hard work. Now Worsfold and the gang can drill him over summer to make sure he's right to go in 2007.

So whats stopping him????

I assume if I went down to the club right now, I'd find him on a treadmill

Look what happened to McVeigh and Malceski last year. Hopefully Samps and Nico can become our McVeigh and Macesky

He is having surgery on his knee on Monday IIRC.

QL21 I have no problem with his statement, however I seem to recall him saying previously that he needed to train harder etc etc , but he seems unable to sustain the effort, that was the point I was making.

Let me make it clear I will be thrilled:D if he can get back to form, he will be an important piece of the jigsaw puzzle.

I reckon there'd be a good chance that he has put on a few kilos already.

nicoski >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>mcveigh and malceski combined

theres nothing wrong with him. just sampi is a lazy fat barstard and needs to work harder if he wants to be apart of our team.

Just a general cleanup of it really. Probably be gone for a month to 6 weeks max. Nothing major

Anyone watch the WAFL final? Even with his current weight, he still kicked 3 goals and worked hard most of the day. I always saw him running to the packs and giving chase.

I hope he's for real this time, I'm a massive fan of his too and it would be sad if we had wasted a high draft pick on him.

Sampi is a lot of talk. A number of times this season he's been like 'I really take getting dropped really hard and I'll do anything to get back in the team' which he clearly didn't do.

What does this mean by the way?

Unfortunately for the pair, who Sampi said had taken the win 'very hard', injury played a major part in ruining their premiership dreams and both were not considered for Grand Final selection.

Taken the win very hard? Does this mean they were upset they weren't part of the team or celebrated the win hard?

He needs to sign over consent to our fitness staff, that they will train him as hard as they like over the summer... kind of like a 24/7 Biggest Loser thing.

I'm going to barf if he goes up to his community again over the summer and digs into those turtle eggs and comes back 8kg heavier in 2 weeks.

Sampi, we need you firing son. Concentrate on your career and not your gut.

The ball is firmly in his court. We know that Woosh and the coaching and fitness staff will give him every opportunity. If he doesn't get fit then 07 will be his last. If he gets fit then he is in the team and kicking butt. UP TO HIM

There was a bit of talk about Sampi on the news tonight. He told Suma that he's going to have a good crack at it in 2007 and they said he has been doing some closed sessions by himself.

Hopefully we'll see a fit, firing and hungry Sampi back in 2007. :thumbsu:

lol, sounds like lance whitnall a couple of years ago. Lets hope he turns it around like whitnall has.

Well he's only on a 1 year contract so 2007 will be his last chance you would think. Hopefully he'll make the most of it.

Jako was saying that he has already lost 5kgs+ and he is more motivated r then he ever has before. Started doing his own closed sessions when he returned from holiday and doing alot of swimming and boxing to improve his fitness, which will be pretty much the basis of his fitness program as he dont like running and in order to protect his knees

A good start it seems. Maybe hes gotten the message

I am really hoping Sampi turns it on this season. Huge wraps for this talented youg man.

Hopefully he has ironed out the problems that were causing him concern last season and become a better player than before.

He would certainly take a lot of pressure of our FF with his wonderful marking abilities and the such.

Im also hoping Staker becomes more consistent and learns how to stick a tackle on.

It would be like having two new recruits not to forget about Nickoski either!

Sampi's talent is undeniable

This year in paticular though was very dissapointing but he did have injury and personal problems to deal with.

I gather that the 1 year contract signifies that the club has lost a little bit of patience though and wants him to fully commit to his career.
