NBC Sports' Matt Maoicco reports the 49ers and George Kittle are making progress on a contract extension.
The two sides took a negotiations break in the summer months, but those talks have picked up this week. Both parties likely want to reach an agreement before the season kicks off, and it could happen at any second. When it's announced, Kittle will likely have the most lucrative tight end contract in the league's history. Kittle's earned every penny with elite pass-catching ability, blocking-ability, and leadership. He's the total package and one of the most valuable non-quarterback's in the entire league. Kittle should be drafted in the second round of fantasy drafts, especially with potentially Deebo Samuel facing a multi-week absence to start the year.

49ers signed TE George Kittle to a five-year, $75 million extension through 2025.
Kittle will get an $18 million signing bonus. The extension "blows the doors off the TE market," according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. Kittle has dominated when given the opportunity in San Francisco's run-first scheme, averaging 13.6 yards per reception over his first three years in the NFL. He's gone for 81 receiving yards per game since becoming the team's primary pass catcher in 2018, as he's led all tight ends and receivers in broken tackles over the past couple seasons. Kittle, 26, is positioned to be a dominant real and fantasy football force for years to come.

The Mercury News' Cam Inman notes the order of the 49ers RB rotation at the first practice was Raheem Mostert, Tevin Coleman, Jerick McKinnon, Jeff Wilson and Jamycal Hasty.
These are the reports that we've been waiting for all offseason. The order of the rotation is what has been projected by the fantasy community, although it's not guaranteed to last the entire season. Coleman may get some "starts" as the 49ers look to wear out defenses with his bigger body, but Mostert is the favorite to lead the backfield in touches after a huge end of the 2019 season. Inman also notes that McKinnon (knee) looked much better in practice than he did a year ago. When asked about McKinnon, coach Kyle Shanahan said, "It’s still the first step, first day but you can tell it healed right." If things go smoothly, McKinnon could mix in as a third-down back behind Mostert and Coleman. The 49ers running backs combined for the fourth-most PPR points in the NFL last season.

So at half time against the Jets we were missing our starting QB, our starting RB, our starting TE and our starting WR (Deebo) on offence. On defence we were missing our starting CB, both starting Edge rushers (Dee Ford has a neck issue and didn't suit up) plus our back up DE/DT. And still beat up on the Jets. Geez they are crap.

Great win, horrible injury toll, 2 possible ACLs in one game, ffs.
Hopefully our backups can keep the momentum going but will be difficult to repeat last year now.

To make matters worse we're playing at shiteturf stadium again next week which seems to be worse than 2001 Colonial Stadium.

Hard to see how the team can get back from here with the huge long term injuries list

Have faith in the coaching staff and the system. A bit like Richmond, think Shanahan can get solid production from the backups. Will be tough over the medium term for sure so a 12-4 season will be unlikely. Hoping they win enough to make playoffs then get on a roll. The situation at WR needs focus though. Adding Sanu will provide marginal help. Interesting to see if they make another mid season trade.

All is not lost yet.

Of all the injuries, Bosa is irreplaceable. Dee Ford is out indefinitely with a back injury with no scheduled return...but he has started all of 2 games since becoming a 49er so managing without him is a thing already. Solomon Thomas' contributions are so inconsequential his lose wont be noticed.

The key to the season is getting through the next 3-4 weeks where most if not all the likely returns should be getting back. Fortunately it is the relatively easy part of the schedule as well. Need to get out of NY with a W and no further injuries Sunday.

Well that was a garbage game this morning.

The Mullins picks were pretty dreadful, but it was a collective crapola effort.

Defence has a huge play, then gives it back. The offense simply fell apart with the turn overs only under moderate heat.

Missing key players on both sides of the ball and Philly were hardly playing lights out.

Miami will knock us over if we play at this level next week.

I think we are now. Had to win against the Eagles cause it gets tougher from here. Mullens showed his limitations in that he is fine if he can stay on script like he did against the Giants but his turnovers killed the team (not helped by the offensive line putting in its worst performance in three years).

Losing Williams is a huge loss as they have now low lost best 4 CBs to go along with all the DE injuries.

That Philly loss f’ed us

Even if we beat Miami we are 3-2 but the next stretch of 7 games is a death run.
Realistically need to set sights on wildcard spot...if the team can get relatively fit by December than this is a distinct possibility. Getting healthy is still all that matters since the 49ers still own their own destiny in that they can close the gap in the division by beating their rivals.

Every scenario relies on getting starters back and the offensive line picking up their game. The injury list runs too deep to beat anyone of note the way they did last year. Shanahan is going to have to let the offensive dogs loose since that side of the ball should be relatively healthy soon.

It's a dumpster fire season now.

I know we're injury depleted on both sides of the ball, but the offence is so dependent on the defence. And the D is getting pushed around nonstop.

We're turning the ball over nonstop.

Time to #tankfortrevor although we've probably already won too many games.
