Free agent OL John Miller visted with the 49ers

Miller started the first 10 games for the Panthers before landing on IR last October. The 29-year-old former Bills third-rounder has struggled with injuries the last few seasons but has started every game of his career when healthy. Miller would give the 49ers an upgrade over projected LG Aaron Banks or rookie Spencer Burford.

Well that's another 365 days of drawing Jimmy until he is released cartoons.

Surely they are just waiting for an injury like they did all preseason. More attractive to teams now his salary is less.

If Lance struggles out of the gate though, s**t about to get very interesting.

This is where the Shanahan arrogance can do good. He simply has to continue reinforcing Lance is the undisputed starter as he has all off season.

What has transpired is the option noone thought seriously would happen, has and is the best outcome for the 49ers and Jimmy (short of an overs trade and multi year contract).

NFL Network Insiders Ian Rapoport and Mike Garafolo reported Monday that the 49ers and Garoppolo are finalizing a new contract that will make him the highest-paid backup quarterback in the NFL. Garoppolo's new deal is worth $6.5 million fully guaranteed with incentives that can push it to close to $16 million, Rapoport and Garafolo added. The reworked deal also will lower Garoppolo's 2022 salary-cap number from $26.95 million to around $8.5 million.

NFL Network Insider Tom Pelissero reported that Garoppolo's contract also includes a no-trade clause and a no-franchise tag clause. Thus, the QB controls where he goes and will be a free agent after this season.

Couldn’t think of anything worst than Rodgers playing for 49ers.

Also love how he said Lance is a position to perform. He is but has so stuff to over come like the middle of our o-line is bad. Like really bad.

Not a lot of surprises in final cuts....interior line and safety are a concern in the short term.

Sud was redundant once Jimmy restructured, biggest surprise was probably cutting the DE they signed from Indie.

Heavy running back room and only 5 recievers...speaks to both play style and keeping players who will see meaningful snaps.

Hasty was unlucky, but I in think that Sermon might be another who could be cut depending on who else has been waived

I am happy taking extra rb with health concerns we have at rb. Wilson and Mitchell will always miss a few games each season.

Ahhhhh Deebo, of course.

49ers waived RB Trey Sermon.

The Niners had to make room for OL Blake Hance after claiming him off waivers earlier in the day. And Sermon is the odd man out. The 49ers are dumping last year's third-round pick and keeping 2022 third-rounder Tyrion Davis-Price and rookie UDFA Jordan Mason over him as the backups to Elijah Mitchell and Jeff Wilson. Sermon just hasn't looked very good since arriving in the NFL, running more like a fullback. Maybe he'll get another shot elsewhere or rejoin the team on the practice squad.

No surprises there. It's think he'll make it back to it practice squad.
