Looks like Sandi has been snubbed for the AA team this year, not even in the 40 squad list :O

Thought he deserves a thread for a solid 2 years! Has certainly improved on his tackling and marking abilities from previous years. Can't wait for him to tear up the finals series.

Disappointing to have him miss the squad. We all know what a gun he is and the important role he plays in our team.

Hopefully a premiership medallion will be adequate compensation for missing the AA squad.

Here's to you Sandi!

I reckon Ross should keep him in a cage till Saturday, feeding him nothing but raw meat, while having an audio loop playing 24 hours a day:
"They reckon you're not good enough - they say you're second rate - whaddya gonna do about it? - prove them wrong - prove them wrong."

Then Unleash the Beast!

He was average in the first half of the year. In the second half he's been more effective as a forward and with his marking. I think it's fair enough he's been left out.

I like to think Sandi's too good for the AA squad. Because there's no other explanation for him being left out. Has he ever been beaten in the ruck??

Nope. His tap work has sometimes been sharked but he is first to the ball in the ruck more times than any of his opponents

I know he absolutely pantsed that pretender from North Melbourne a few weeks ago.

Dont mind the too good theory.

Meh, Goldstein was BOG in that game. Sandi pantsed him in the first half but did nothing in the 2nd half.

Very surprised sandi wasnt in the 40. Ever since i met him at willo sports club pissed as a mule back in 07 maybe great dude. He let me climb on his shoulders and then i got a photo but no flash on the phone so didnt come out. I was a kid at the time and in awe of how big he was. Most noticeable omission this year by far.

I don't think he was AA quality this year but he was better than half the Freo blokes named in the squad.

Display Leigh Matthew's article subliminally on a screen.

Puopolo is glad we aren't playing the hawks. He might just feed on him.

They actually did display that article at a game last year at Subi where Sandi was having a killer game. The crowd booed when the article was shown on the screens haha

Without taking away from the other two (they both had good years), I don't know what more he could have done.

We still don't fully capitalise on his dominance though but I think we will over the next few games with Fyfe back.

Be more athletic like Nik Nat lol

Naitanui and Goldstein both pantsed Sandi in free kicks for. Naitanui has clearly being playing very well of late. However over the course of the season, which I believe is whats being measured, at least in a ruck capacity he would be behind Sandilands. Of course we are all aware of the 'Animal Farm' type of consistency that permeates all things AFL.

during bouncedowns is where nic nat is far ahead of sandi, he has much greater range in his taps and doesn't just tap it down to his feet, we are ranked 8th in centre cleareances despite having the most hitouts per game.

around the ground sandi kills him though, we are ranked 1st in the comp at non centre square clearances.

I wonder how much that has to do with the eagles midfield being much faster than ours?

Our midfielders aren't exactly the fastest going around, I think.
