A lot of good quality talent has rejected us this year. Should we be upset?

If he had the choice between Freo and Geelong you'd think he's more likely to go Freo. He's already based in WA.He coaches some Dockers and coaches against others,so he'd have a good idea about their list.

I think getting sando back is a good move in that not only has he done a very good job at the Power as the development coach, but he already is very well liked and respected at our club. It's a shame that means German is now off the radar as I thought he would of been a real kick ass get. But GFC is playing it safe here getting a man they already know.

I get the impression the "playing it safe" element might be in operation here too. As I've stated before, I don't personally know any of the players, past or present, so I wouldn't doubt Sando's commitment. But given that our midfield needs the development, it does seem logical that a successful mid-fielder would fit the bill. I look forward to being very wrong.

I believe he has kids at school as well - it makes it a no brainer of a decision for him.

Neeld is an idiot of the highest order, but that is a pesonal thing for me.

I must say though his coaching record is quite good.He would probably be a good appointment.

I would still prefer Buddha though.

He might be a good choice for one particular reason, it seems that he can be quite an inspiring coach when its needed. Back in the 93 GFL local GF, when Ocean Grove were trailing by a few goals against a team who hadn't lost a match all year, he famously gave a stirring 3/4 time speech calling on his players to lift in front of the jumper worn by the captain who was injured. Ocean Grove ran over their opponents to win. This is something that Bomber is incapable of.

On the other hand though, there have been a couple of alledged incidents that haven 't done his reputation any good.

I think you're right. He's been in WA for a few years,so it makes sense that he'd prefer not to move and take on a similar job at another club when he can do the same job locally.
