Sando: where is he at?

Maybe, I don't think our list is terrible though.

Not the point though, Sanderson will do more damage the longer he's in the role. Club need to make the change now.

Confident they will, Roo sees through his bullshit.

Agree. The club is now really in a difficult spot. Do we try to reinvent or just dig deeper?

OK we don't have any you beaut strong aerialist players, or any real runners, or a nice package of elite players with good foot skills, but players we do have are not inferior to most other AFL teams - certainly not NMelb. But we look inferior. We are a sus team who cannot execute the neccessary skills under pressure and generally fold under last quarter pressure. We are now known for this. There are many things that can cause a team to drop away, such as injuries, loss of form by key playmakers, opposition teams structuring and negating your game plan/style and many lesser intangibles. But I repeat that while we have some problematic deficiencies in our line-up, we have the talent and are capable of playing the required football to at least position 3 level.
That's what I think because most times we are around the mark. Our KPI's read OK. What I'm getting at is the problem lies in our game plan and coaching. With Sando's appointment, the word in the media and around the traps was that maybe he wasn't 'tough' enough to make hard decisions and impose a level of uncompromising ruthlessness in exacting performances and defining a present day AFC team culture. This may be so. You can look at the failed games in the last half of this season and often point to a few key mistakes, turnovers etc (certainly some today which Pods eg. seemed to highlight) where we narrowly lose games we should have won. I think we run out of endeavour because throughout games we allow opposition teams too much play making, ball movement latitude (eg lead-up passing down the length of the field, un-manned outside clearance movement etc)which taxes us and when crunch time arrives we have no game plan to prevail. We have safety first football. We slow the game down and kick to contests. We are not coached to create and take the game on. We are primarily defensive (eg predictable kick-ins) and when we do try things to try to 'save' a game, we are found wanting.

Just as an example, I can truthfully say we have no readily visible structures, and that includes defensive structures at stoppages etc, for most game situations. I'm sure we have but they are difficult to spot from my perspective, whereas the opposition teams' setting-up is often obvious and logical, both in defence and attack. Why is it other teams can tough-out stoppage contests, squeeze the ball to the outside and create motion with multiple options? Whereas we are reduced almost exclusively to hack kicks from stoppages. Even with clear inside possession we mostly resort to uncontrolled extraction kicks. Hack kicks that more often than not fall into the arms of the opposition. And so we exit stoppages at 50/50 at best and most times have to work our bums off to further contest and usually chase an opposition possession. We are constrained by the present gameplan in that we do not provide good support for team mates with run and hard work. We are not coached to execute the little smart attacking, often hard work and a bit risky, things that can break open games and put the opposition on the back foot. We don't run or spread and thus are very predictable. I think the problem is COACHING, and though we may have gained a couple of ladder spots this year I honestly think we are losing ground with each recent season.

I've been howLed down in this thread but proven right, welcome to the light brothers and sisters. Sando is shit, rejoice at enlightenment and sack the fool.

My fear is that if we persist with Sando, we will face a Brisbane/Voss style exodus.
kingly - you need to stop reading the tripe peddled to the commoners, Polec & Karnezis went home due to being mummy's boys - the other three would have stayed if voss was coach. Sanderson just hasn't got it.

A million times yes…we can only dream.

As much as i envy the work ethic of the Lyon/Roos style whilst also enjoying the dynamic Cats…the Hawks have almost every aspect nailed.

Clarkson is a genius.

And he and his family enjoyed their time in Adelaide and he knows the SA footy landscape
