And that's why Billy can't make it as a defender.

Just can't defend 1v1

If it was the 80-00s, sure. Considering that tall intercepting defender has become one of the most important positions in football at the moment, he certainly has a pathway to making it at Collingwood as a defender.

Not that it is worthwhile for Adelaide to pursue that direction with Worrell and Doedee.

We really needed to keep going with McAsey as a KPD, it's a massive hole in our list and far easier to make it as a KPD then a KPF.
Would Heard from Norwood be a good rookie option? We need the depth and it would be better to pick one who's more ready than a new draftee. Might be a tad short at 190cm though.

What does he offer that Borlase doesn't?

Would be better off just using Borlase as that first drop depth option.

That said, it's not something I'd really bother worrying about this off-season. Michaelany can replace Frampton/Worrell as an intercepting def in the SANFL side and a top-up could do a job as a 4th string KPD (or McAsey if he doesn't fire a shot next year).

I am all for penalising players who drag it in and look to hold the ball for a bounce. But the way its umpired is horrible. You are literally rewarding players with a free kick for doing exactly what the rule was designed to prevent. Players holding the ball in the contest under a player should under no circumstances be rewarded and frankly, it should be holding the ball against them. What the AFL and leagues who adopt the rule dont seem to realise is if you penalise the incoming players who clearly are holding it in it will stop automatically and the ball will jar free out of those contests. The way its umpired is simply pathetic. Thats why it keeps happening.
