Headline in today's paper: "Marsh Leads West Assult". FAIR DINKUM!!!!!! I haven't watched the actual game but by al reports he was BOG, gathering 12 possesions, taking 8 marks and having 25 effective hitouts. Why in hell can't he do that for the Crows?!?!?!?!?!?!

I listened to Shaun Rehn this morning on the radio and he said that Marsh has really matured this year and he believes that if Marsh is given a decent chance he would take it and not look back. Big puss actually gave him a wrap.

It appears that Matthew Smith's decision to leave Port Magpies and go to Sturt has paid of. He got selected in the league side and played well, gathering 19 possesions and taking 10 marks.

Trent Hentschel

He is starting to worry me a bit. I reckon we gave him a taste of AFL way too soon. :( Before he got his AFL debut, he was regulary kicking anywhere from 3 - 7 goals in a match for the month leading to his AFL debut. Once he was dropped from the Crows he had one game when he kicked 3 goals and the rest he was largely ineffective. He seem so out of form that he could possibly be dropped to Eagles reserves. He is not getting as much of the ball, he is not taking marks he would usually take and he is not getting his share of shots on goal. Did we play him in the AFL before he was ready and as a concenquence we destroyed his confidence??????:(

BRING BACK BEN

Seriously though Marsh has had plenty of chances at AFL level & even though he performs well on a reg basis in the SANFL he looks like a duck out of water in the big league,

Ben wasn't picked this for this weeks game & that just about says it all for him unless we lose one of our ruckmen,

Agree with you Stiffy on the Hentschel topic & that was not the first time we have thrown someone to the wolfs when he is not ready, Skipworth is a good example & although he had a reasonable debut against the Swans he struggled there after,

On another subject would someone have any idea how many picks from both drafts we have we used that come from the Eagles in the last 5 years ?? & how many have made the grade??

Cheers Stiffy :) that was quick you got a draft record book or something ??

so on that list i would make it 3 successes, 2 so so's, 3 maybes & 1 failure, that is better than what i thought,

And I thought you wanted Hentschel in the Crows' side this week Stiffy? ;) J.K. :)

I wouldn't be too worried about Hentschel, he's having a bad trot at the moment but I think he'll get it together eventually.....as for Marsh, it's nothing new, he's also been reasonable in the SANFL, in fact he's played some very good games for West and yet has still looked utterly ****e at the higher level. I'd be amazed, no, stunned, if anything has changed. Let's just hope we never get the chance to find out.

I thought Marsh was good early and then fell away a bit, but it was still a solid game from him. He could be handy trade bait.

Hentschel is a worry, but he has been up against two of the best SANFL defenders going around recently - AhChee and Haraida. However, he will need to do something soon.

That was the best game I have ever seen Matt Smith play! He was quite good until he got knocked over. At least he got up and kept playing. Good luck kid!

Other than Smith and Marsh there werent too many Crows playing well in the SANFL this weekend which is a real concern. Bock playing ressies and Jericho, Schuback and Welsh also in Westies seconds...Nelson, Shirley and Skipworth, forget about 'em!

Hopefully we'll see the return of some senior Crows to the side next week. This should ensure that Andrew Crowell returns to the SANFL and with any luck will bloody stay there until the end of the year!

What did Crowell do wrong? Brown kicked 4 goals on Hart & Crowell kept him goal-less.

There have been numerous players who have dominated at SANFL level but struggled at AFL level. Marsh fits this category & should not play fpr the Crows unless we have injured ruckmen.

Did Burton do enough to warrant a recall next week? We badly need him, Carey & Burns back as we had no confidence going deep into the forward line today.

I tought he has played well for the last 2 games. He deserves to stay in the side as he has done nothing wrong.

I agree I didn't think Marsh's game was overly fantastic from quarter time onwards. Possibly could have impressed enough to push for selection this week.

I wasn't overly impressed with his performance the other week against Sturt. Having never seen him before I thought he might have showed a little more than he did. Many other crows supporters watching him for the first time were also disappointed.

I never realised that Matt had so much potential! I was more than a little skeptical when we signed him but now i'm glad we did! He played a wonderful game until he got knocked over and then kinda lost his way. I look forward to watching him next week.

Jericho wasn't all that impressive in the ressies however Schuback impressed me a lot. Welsh played as well as could be expected for his first game back, should play next week for the Crows. Nelson didn't have a bad game, infact he was probably one of our better players again. I agree though that can't see him making it back into the side anytime soon.

I think he should play another 1-2 games in SANFL before he gets back into the side.

Do you really think that Matthew Smith is that good?????? Will he make it to AFL??????

I'd probably play Welshy off the bench next week and ease him back into it. There was no sign of lack of match fitness or anything from him.

Given time Smith will be that good. I thought he was average the last couple times I saw him but he was good yesterday. Once he matures and bulks up a little, he'll be a handy player for the Crows across half back.

He is an interesting sort of player. He's got height for a KP player but he plays like a flanker and has decent pair of hands.

I watched nearly all of that game, and don't worry Stiffy, he didn't live up to that newspaper rave - a fair bit of poetic licence there my friend. :)

He just looks like Ben Marsh playing in a lower grade.

The fact that Adelaide is prepared to play a pigmy forward line than pick Marsh says it all.

And I agree with the selectors.
