Nick Moore. KEEP, I know he's not as consistent as he was, but he always give 110% and plays old school tough magpies football

Jack Watkins. KEEP, will win our BnF, but have a feeling he'll be one and done and return to Victoria if hes not drafted

Jez McLennan. KEEP, got better and better as the season went on, definitely worth persisting with.

Shay Linke. KEEP, showed alot this season, schooled Harvey both times we played North which was a great watch.

Jake Weidemann. KEEP, the norwood game was his only dismal game since he joined us 5 years ago, out of position. Heart and Soul of the team i feel.

Rome Burgoyne. KEEP, dont think he'll get drafted, SANFL is his level, but if hes not drafted he's likely to leave.

Kye Roberts. KEEP, played well against norwood and hes solid defensive depth.

Ryan Carnelly. 50/50 on him, fine as depth, plays some good games, goes quiet on others.

Bailey Chamberlain. KEEP, I actually really like Bailey, always gives his all, ok shot at goal too.

Nic Couroupis. KEEP, this bloke can play! Would love to see him get more chances! Rocket boot too.

Cormack O'Reilly. 50/50, another who plays good in some games, goes missing in others, but ok depth.

Aidan Turner. KEEP, another who i think always gives his all, probably better as a depth top up rather than first choice though.

Josh Byrne. KEEP, played well in every game he played last year then got hurt, came back from injury and played very well again, only to get hurt again, would like to see more of him.

Hugh Ferrari. 50/50, I actually have a feeling hes already left, wasn't on the injury list on the SANFL site and I doubt he wouldn't get in the team with the amount of injuries we had.

Miller Carter. GO, as much as I love seeing famous names still running around in the black and white, Miller couldn't even make the team even with a lack of key defenders, thats says alot.

Will O'Brien. GO, just making numbers.

Austin Harris. KEEP, seems a good shot at goal, was out injured most the year, would like to see him more consistently before I pass judgement, but played well in the game he played.

Heath Growden. GO, Just making numbers again, only played rnd1 then never saw again.

Mack Bowman. KEEP, we only saw him once, probably worth keeping as defensive depth.

Dustin Launer. GO, making numbers.

Harry Williams. GO, ^^

Brayden Calvett. GO, ^^

Oliver Francou. KEEP, injured all season, would like to see what he brings.

If I was him, I'd be sticking around, we've got no small forward depth. He should be getting chances.

I'd say its likely that Ollie's already left for North
If he can't get a game in Norths side though, he could stay with us and split his time between Port league, and North reserves.

McLennan said at the B&F he reckons he’ll re-sign for another year.
It wouldn't be the biggest surprise if he's picked up in SSP as a replacement for Burton for HB depth.

Aidan Turner (Moonta) included in the Yorke Peninsula TOTY. As well as former Port Magpies Matt Appleton and Jack Elsworthy.

We should take full advantage of the new rules that game into effect at the end of 2024

the rules
- The new SANFL rules, approved in late 2024, allow both Port Adelaide and Adelaide to sign up to six local SANFL players aged 21 or under to their talent development lists.

we got 3 from the SANFL- Jez McLennan (Ex-Centrals), Rome Burgoyne (Ex WWT), Oli Francou (Ex-North). So, we can get at least 3 more (depending on the status of Oli Francou)

The AFL Mid-Season Draft is a separate process from the talent development list. Harrison Ramm (from Glenelg) - Ewan Mackinlay (from North Adelaide) - Mani Liddy (from Central District) so these players dont count

other rules
  • Access to 2 players from interstate (the rule is Six players total from SANFL clubs (per AFL club) and two from interstate)
  • Access to U18 Father-son or NGA players
  • Open Age List (up to four players) introduced for both AFL clubs:

we need to
- pick 3 more from SANFL clubs (or who could go on SANFL club lists from the AFL)
- pick 2 from interstate
- see who could be ready from F/S & NGA lists

find a replacement for Watkins (if he is on the Powers rookie list)
look at either (for example)
  • Jacob Blight 196cm KPD (ex-Rich) 23yrs
  • Finlay Macrae 186cm (ex-Collingwood) Mid / HFF - 23yrs

rule not sure about this rule if it is still current
- Under the successful SANFL Rookie Program, both AFL clubs were able to access up to four rookies (aged 18-20 years).

Former Port Magpie Luke Reynolds has left Glenelg.
Retired im pretty sure. Was a great servant for both clubs. I listened to an interview with him recently where they asked about leaving Port and he stated "it was the hardest decision of my life, im very loyal person and always see myself as a one club man, but unfortunately the model changed after I was drafted and returned, though I stuck it out, it became clear I had to leave if I wanted to play regularly and develop as a player"

AFL removing the sub and going to 5 on the bench.

So 1 less AFL listed player to choose from for SANFL games.
Thats not necessarily a bad thing. It gives top ups more of a chance to play which in turn could mean the better ones stick around if more opportunities are available

Rumours going around that Dittmar might be signing with Nord. If Watkins gets upgraded to the AFL list, we probs need to find another big fish. Maybe Elijah Hollands if he's delisted from Carlton and no other AFL club picks him up.
