Doiler cheers for the teams ..... how hard has it been for interstaters to get teams ...not on the Advertiser site for most of the day ....so really appreciated.

For those of us who see only the occasional SANFL game ....which younsters should we be keeping an eye on this year as future AFL prospects???

I'll jump in for Drummond ....the whole Norwood team :p

From the Roosters I'd say that Zac Millar, Todd Pfeiffer, Josh Cubillo, and Michael Wundke are some chance at getting drafted.

Zac Millar debuted in last years Preliminary Final and showed some poise and class. He is a smooth mover and has silky skills.

Pfeiffer played a handful of games in the seniors last year and had a blinder on debut against Port. Lack of pace may be a problem, but is a ball winning midfielder.

Cubillo also debuted in the Finals last year and plays across half-back. Starting to fill out nicely and assert more influence on games. Pushing for selection Saturday night and will learn a lot by playing alongside Ben Hart.

Michael Wundke is a developing young key forward. Kicked 100+ in the juniors a few years ago and was on track with 99 goals 3/4 of the way through the season 2 years ago in the u-19's before breaking his leg. Played reserves last year and went okay. He needs to start bulking up but he will play seniors at some point this year.

He was raved about a couple of seasons ago but then some judges held grave doubts about his ability to go from start junior to AFL player ....was it his height or pace or something .....how tall is he?

Zac Millar looked good in the U18 championships and he was likend to Jraman in his movements .......but he also appeared slow and a touch lazy .......now I've seen juniors like that b4 go onto be outstanding footballers when the light of what is required gets switched on.

suspend errant players

WEST Adelaide has stood down league players tomorrow among an unknown number of players suspended because they broke discipline last week in a show of will from the match committee.

Bloods coach Wayne Weidemann has refused to select the players in league or reserves to face Sturt in their SANFL season opener at Richmond tomorrow. West refused to name the players involved but star recruit Damian Cupido was named in the league team in The Advertiser yesterday but his name was omitted from the "updated" team released later.
The Power's Ryan Willits, who switched from Glenelg yesterday, will debut in Cupido's spot while Crows ruckman Kurt Tippett comes in on the bench, forcing out untried Matt Lutze.

West football manager Scott Turner would not say if Cupido was injured but simply said: "He won't play."

The errant players are said to have ignored the night curfew and over-indulged with alcohol after Saturday's successful club season launch. The Bloods are taking the strong stand in a bid to break the "party boys" tag that has dogged West. Weidemann admitted the move on the eve of the season opener was "not the best timing" but he said it was right.

"I'm pretty comfortable about this," he said. "We have a players' code conceived with a lot of input from the leadership group and a group of players have gone outside that code. The players know the rules and as a consequence that group will be stood down. This (action) has the strong backing of the board. We're making a statement. Whether they're a senior player or someone new to the footy club, everybody has got to stand by the rules."

Weidemann dismissed gossip the stand-downs resulted from a brawl involving players while West was in Hobart for a trial game two weeks ago. He said: "It won't happen again, I can assure you of that. We won't be making any comment on who is involved. It's been handled well in-house."

Interestingly is the fact that with several players stood down for thefirst game through breaches of discipline, ie a big p1ss-up during no drink time, West Adelaide has named a team devoid of some otherwise certainties for selection.

In spite of this Jericho is not named in the starting 18 and is listed as one of about 5 or 6 interchange players.

Has he been playing in Westies pre-season trials?

Number 33 for Port last night was very good, Summerton I think his name is, although bloody helped we didnt man up on him!

For the legs number 41 Austin Wonamaerri (and if I have spelt that right Ill be stunned!) could be worth a look

Go away Punchy, you're ruining my record. :D

Jericho missed the last trial through injury, but played in the previous two. The SANFL teams named before the Easter round don't necessarily line up like that on Saturday, so I wouldn't read anything into Jericho being named on the interchange at all.

Wundke is listed as 191cms and 91kgs. He got out bodied a bit in the league trials over the last few weeks in the one-on-ones but that isn't his preferred game. He is a quick leading forward and usually a reliable kick at goal.

Millar isn't super quick but I wouldn't call him slow either. He mainly played college football last year with a few reserves matches before his league call up. Hopefully he just picked up some bad habits from school footy and will now have to work harder to force his way back into the league side.

Millar was too young to be drafted last year but is a very good chance to get picked up this year. Cubillo and Pfeiffer are some chance as well. Michael Wundke is an outside chance but that is very unlikely.

James will be drafted for sure he is a good looking young big man, but he is only 17 so obviously has a lot of developing to do. Brad Ebert is Port isn't he? I'm sure North only has Daniel and Ricky Ebert.

millar wasnt too young last year he was overlooked

West v Sturt now on ABC.

Tippett started in the ruck, up against the Power's DeLuca. He was smashed in the first ruck contest but took a great mark running back into defence. He has a mark, kick and handball 3 minutes in.

Jericho seems to be playing loose across half back. That's really going to get him in the Crows team...
