How do you know this?

Dude that is the first time I have said that about ANY of our players and I think with Sellar it will be true.

Crows midfield >>>> Glenelg midfield. Make sense?
Did you just see that? Sellar took the mark, tried to take his opponent on and was run down. Two Glenelg fans have told me he had OP and if you don’t believe them you should after seeing that.

Oh and that is far too simplistic. In AFL there is constant flooding and the forwards often have no space. Sellar excels when he has space to lead so if anything SANFL would be better suiting to his game.

damn assignments

so from what you guys are saying - Sellar looks good but perhaps suffering an injury hangover - also probably the same age as this years draftees so i'll take that into account

Hinge is playing a shocker, Douglas still hasn't found a left foot and Maric looks like he'll be giving the crows rucks a helping hand next week

Nah Griff won't be dropped, especially after a weeks break.

Sellar's second goal was gun, he roved it from a marking contest.

He needs to get 1 more to kick the 3 I projected for him :)

Gee, Hinge got a bit of a knock there, but im sure he'll pull up ok. From what I saw, Douglas was good as was Sellar. Didn' see much of Hinge before he got 'injured', nor did I see much of Maric.

Douglas was good, had a superb last term when the good players needed to stand up. Would've had 10 tackles at least today and I was pleased he played significant time on ball.

If Sellar was recruited as a ruckman, he'd be playing for the Crows at this time. He's going to take a couple of years to learn how to play as a forward, but the signs are all there.

Hinge was solid, made a few gaffs, but was ok. Hope he's OK from that elbow in the throat.

Maric carved it up, especially early, but I'm not sure how much to take from it given he was up against a young 18 year old (?) Button. When Sellar went into the ruck, I thought Maric was beaten or at least held to a draw.

Being run down means you have OP? I guess Marty Mattner has a chronic case then ;)

If saying that better delivery will improve him is no more simplistic than writing him off because of 'constant flooding'.

$50 on those two glenelg fans on not having any idea whether he had OP or not.
Seriously mate, why would they lie? So they both just make up the fact that Sellar had OP? Yes, I can see why they would...

But it's cool, don't believe me, I don't particulary care.

Oh this boys club is getting a little ridiculous now. Anyone can get run down, even Judd, but the way Sellar got caught highlighted the fact he's still not 100%. He had little acceleration and just couldn’t get away. Please stop trying to start arguments for the sake of it.

My assessments of our players today:

• Douglas 18 possessions, 3 marks, 2.1. Would’ve easily had 5+ tackles, probably close to 10, so his work without the ball was a highlight. He was a smooth mover and his disposals were all effective. He chipped in with 2 goals and should’ve had a third. He needs to work on getting a left foot though because he was trapped on the boundary line and had to turn back to his right foot in heavy traffic.

• Maric had a great first half but died down after the main break. 9 possessions, 4 marks and about 20 hitouts. His ruckwork was brilliant and his work around the ground in the first half was very impressive.

• Hinge had just the 11 disposals and 3 marks. He really struggled today and fumbled quite often. He struggled picking the ball up off the deck and he was a little undisciplined. Coped a knock to the throat midway though the last term and didn’t come back.

• Sellar finished with 7 possessions, 3 marks and 2.1. I’m starting to be convinced that he could make it as a ruckman at the top level because he went up against Maric in centre bounces and he negated Maric.

Having a groin injury is not the same as having Osteitis pubis. It is public knowledge that James Sellar had a groin injury but at no stage was it ever diagnosed as OP.

Having an OP injury is heading more towards the hernia and inflammation on the pelvic bone rather than a strain of the groin muscle.

I have never read anywhere that has said that James Sellar was suffering from OP.

Have you knocked one out over James Sellar in the last 25 mins?

Yep he didn't have OP.

You know what some people at the football are like, they make up crap. Even at Crows games I used to have to ALWAYS correct people with dodgy statements they would make.

Did you just see that? Sellar took the mark, tried to take his opponent on and was run down.

Lack of awareness. That had nothing to do with lack of pace due to OP. A big lad takes a high mark and attempts to outrun a midfielder with a 20m run up. What happens?

People forget that this kid was nearly a year younger than most of the draftees last year. He's got a shiteload of 'potential' (yes I know, dirty word).

5 goals in 2 games in a return to league footy is more than decent after a long lay off. I'm more than happy with his development so far.

After seeing that Maric would be a serious contender to come in next week. He absolutely dominated the ruck:thumbsu: Also don't know wtf Drummond is on about, Sellar always looked good when it was kicked to him. I think he'll be like Griffin in that he'll always be a better player at AFL level then SANFL level. The roving goal he kicked and the chase down shows he does have the speed.

Fair enough guys, we’ll agree to disagree. ;) Let's say he didn't and doesn't have OP, he still looks less than 100% IMO. I hope so anyway because he looked a bit sluggish at times.

Douglas was great. Close to BOG.

Maric was good. Best game hes played all year. Quiet second half though.

Hinge was awful. Gave away stupid frees, made a heap of mistakes.

Sellar was quiet but good in patches. 2 goals in 20 seconds in the second quarter but didnt see a lot of the ball. Was never in the game up forward but when in the ruck/playing along the wings he got a bit of the ball. Probably needs to command the ball a bit more. Was a bit stagnant up forward, didnt lead much, didnt command the ball to be kicked to him. Got a lovely kick.

No. I just stated that at this moment in time Sellar in the ruck >>>>>> Sellar as a forward. In the ruck he's superb.

He would've been a great chance to play in the ruck, if he was recruited for that purpose, given that Biggles, Meese and Maric went down.

Maric should probably come back into contention this week, gave the Port midfield an armchair ride. 1st half especially.

We MUST MUST MUST play Sellar as a forward.

We have enough quality Ruckman and we need a KPP forward and Sellar could be anything.

Even with Meese hopefully leaving at the end of the year and we have some great ruck depth.

He's been recruited as a forward and is in the development process. It will take time.

I hope you're extracting the urine. That's just moronic.

Kurt Tippett had far superior ruck skills to the chosen one in James Sellar. If Jonathon Griffin (assuming James was fit enough to play) didn’t show enough signs of improving and the match committee needed a different option, Kurt Tippett would have been given an opportunity in the ruck before James Sellar.

You are right, give him time and allow him to find his feet and the tempo of senior SANFKL football. He has played a total of 11 game of senior SANFL football and we are asking to him to basically step in and dominate in one of the hardest position on the ground.

IMO – When he was active and had the ball in his area he looked fine and showed plenty of mobility and determination to chase and tackle. Saying that he didn’t do nearly enough but it is only his 3rd game for the season (4th in total).
