Eagles v South (Woodville)

* For the Eagles Ken McGregor is named at CHB. Jarrhan Jacky is named in the reserves whilst Jared Petrenko is named as an out due to the Crows. However the chances of him actually making his debut are slim to none. Andy Otten will play on-ball for South on the basis that he drops out of the Crows squad.

North v Central (Prospect)

* Jonathon Griffin named in the ruck for the Dogs and he and the AFC will be hoping he has an impact for the first time in about 3 months. Rookie James Moss will once again play in the reserves, and perhaps cricket was his go. Reserves player Tony Armstrong named on the HFF. End of year delistee Greg Gallman named at CHB in the seniors.

Norwood v Sturt (Norwood) ABC TV

* After playing his most all-rounded game of the season, forward Taylor Walker will be hoping to continue his good form. He could line-up against Power listed defender Toby Thurstans. Aaron Kite will probably be named on the wing and could spend more time there after starting on the wing against Port. Luke ‘Jezza’ Jericho will line-up in attack, assuming his hamstring is okay and assuming he hasn’t been dropped to the reserves. For Sturt Brodie Martin will most likely play for Sturt’s senior side despite a quiet game last week.

West v Port (Richmond)

* Kurt Tippett will probably line-up with West Adelaide as he is likely to be left out of the Crows finalised squad.

I wonder what has happened to Griff lately. Remember him Carving up Carlton single-handedly earlier this year?

Fitness, fatigue, a young body. Another preseason (or two) and he'll be fine.

Edit: whoops, you mean lately. Have heard nothing, assumed he was injured. What the hell did happen to him?

I never thought I'd see the day when pathetic, outdated toilet humour went over peoples heads. ;)

I watched a bit of the Norwood and Sturt game on TV today. Walker and Jericho both kicked two goals. One of Walker's was a beauty from right on the boundary line 50m out, he also kicked one behind and had an awful shank form about 40m out. It looked like Reilly found plenty of the ball for Sturt, particularly in the second term. I didn't notice Martin much (if at all) and Kite seemed to do ok.

well i watch the entire game

i'll be looking forward to drummonds report consider the great result

for me Walker was once again brilliant at what he does - Attack, smal hand passes great marking greatish goal kicking. But his chance and 2nd efforts are the same as they were 5 weeks ago so I doubt he will be getting a call up

Kite - I really like this bloke, really solid I can see him replacing Bassett.

Jericho - not a bad game - kicked some nice goals but still didn't do the tough stuff.
I actually didn't see Martin, which probably says alot about who I was looking out for.

Kenny was solid for the Eagles, but not a stand out. He is trying his heart out though. Took a few contested marks, but mostly spent his time down back. Stood on lade for a bit.

Eagles played really well today on a side note, very tough and always first to the ball.

Lade was pretty quiet, obviously did well with his taps. Strangely enough he didn't go for many marks, he seemed to jump up and palm it to a player as if a throw in. Was amuseing, but it worked. He is a smart ruckmen.

I reckon Mad Dog Jezza raised the bar today when he saw Craigy was watching from the stands. He kicked a classic goal of the day and got plenty of possessions.

Walker was good considering the conditions didn't suit.

I didn't think Reilly was very good today, got a bit of ball but not damaging at all ... I guess the fact Sturt only scored 4 goals all day is testament to the fact the Norwood midfield was well on top altho they actually got less possessions overall.

Annoying that North got home today, Norwood would have almost had a finals spot sewn up otherwise. Looks like the battle for the 5 is gonna go right down to the wire.

Jericho close to worst on ground despite the fact he kicked 2 goals. He was out on the wing for virtually the entire match and I don't think he had an opponent for the entire day as he was always out in space and barely had a contested possession. To be fair he had a decent enough start to the game and probably had about 5 touches in the opening term however he was unbelievabley soft throughout the day, even for him, and his attack on the ball was pathetic. His second quarter was particulary embarassing and he copped a lot of flack from the crowd, both sets of supporters. He went up for marks one handed, decided to kick it off the ground even when he had a ton of time to bend down and pick it up. Just too soft.

Kite was excellent, don't think his opponents got a possession all day. Well maybe that's an exaggeration but he played very tight to his man and he didn't let his opponents get a cheap kick. When it did look like his opponent would mark he managed to glose the gap and spoil. He probably only about 8 or so possessions but lots of tackles, more than I've ever seen him tackle, and he won a holding the ball free in the first term. What was most impressive was his defensive efforts and his spoiling. I would go as far as saying he had about 6-10 spoils. Will be a very good player. Is very passionate about the NFC too.

Walker was okay, not his best game though. Kicked 2 goals, both very special goals especially his first which was tight on the boundary line about 50 out. His defensive work was okay at best. Did apply a few tackles but he needs to spoil more when in a defensive position instead of always trying to mark. Used his body pretty well a few times, one in which he was ridiculously paid for a push in the last term. A 25 metre penalty followed due to Walker's frustration.

Reilly was outstanding for Sturt. Really fired up in the second quarter and had a lot of the ball and his ball use was brilliant. Faded a bit as the game wore on but he looked incredibly classy out there and his delivery was top notch. Hard to say how many disposals he had, probably roughly 23 and about 5 marks. Teammates called him into the play a lot, more than I expected and all were calling him Radar. After the game, when both teams were about to head down the race, he went over to the Norwood huddle and obviously had a few words to his Crow teammates. I love this bloke, should come back in next week.

Craigy wants Kenny to learn the lead up forward role, so the Eagles playing Kenny down back will kill off any slight chance he has of making it back to the crows

I always enjoy your reviews Drummond but I will have a bet with you that Jericho is named in Norwood's best players in the Sunday Mail.

Agree he wasn't particularly hard but I don't think that was his role today, he was more the run and receive player and did a very good job of it I thought. Wetherald and Gallagher were doing a fine job of winning Norwood's share of the hard ball.

Norwood had an amazing ratio of kicks to handballs today considering what their stats normally are. I think the tactics early were just to get the ball forward at all costs, so I think even the "soccers" off the ground were justified.
