Was thinking of heading down to watch the Bays game if Jimmy Sellar was playing. I'll presume he will be.

Today

Central District 16.14-110

def.

South Adelaide 7.9-51

I don't think there were many South players that went well. Hopefully he did ok.

Remember he's still pretty young and raw and up against some hardened competitiors.

I'm itching to know how Mackay went.
I'm watching it now, but I only started taping it midway through the second quarter when my mum got home. :p During this time Mackay had 3 possesions. :thumbsu: Seriously, he looks the goods. I've only seen him against Norwood in the trial game and in this SANFL game, but there is something about him. He has good skills and is very composed under pressure. I like what I see from him; however he needs to add another 10kg as he is extremely light.

Craigy, I love you.

Also Drummond, how is his leg speed?

He did a hammy, so we can now add him to the injured list.:(

Oh man, you're joking :O :(

Hopefully it's not a serious one and he'll be back in a couple of weeks. Probably wouldn't be ready to come into the Adelaide side until later in the year regardless, guys like Pfeiffer and Campbell should get gigs soon enough.

Oh **** off. Another injury, you've got to be kidding.

OK just finished watching the replay. Keep in mind that I missed the entire first quarter and 10 minutes of the second…

Mackay had 15 possesions and 5 marks. I don’t want to get carried away, but I’m going to anyway. :p This young man is something pretty special IMO. There were a few things that stood out to me but mainly his composure. He is only 18 years of age and whilst the rest of his Panther teammates couldn’t do a thing right, Mackay looked so comfortable out there. He was getting better as the game wore on too; he had about 8 possies in the last quarter alone.

His disposal is first rate. I now know exactly why they praised his foot skills; he really does have exquisite skills. He drilled a few 50 metre passes, and he also has the ability to spear it low and fast over long distances. And in one passage of play he took a mark on the edge of the centre square, took 2 bounces and pin-pointed a kick on his left boot which ultimately resulted in a goal. The commentators praised the play and they were impressed by his performance on the whole. He is also very good by hand; he probably had 7 odd handballs and they were all precise and some 20+ metres. He also has very good pace, which he used to chase a few Dogs players down, and just moves so smoothly.

However the bad news is that he limped off at the 21 minute mark of the last term with a right hamstring strain. I am extremely disappointed because Norwood play South next week and I wanted to see him in action. I would suspect he’ll miss 2 weeks. But a very solid debut from Mackay and I believe we have a tremendous young midfielder on our hands here. ;) :thumbsu:

Thanks for that Drummond, much appreciated. Sounds like he's got a lot of weapons does Mackay, leg speed being one of them :D

He sounds very good, so disappointed to hear that he's injured. I tell ya this quality recruiting we've been doing since Craig David took over has me getting more excited by the day.

Mate, after seeing another one of our young guns unleashed today I’m starting to get pretty excited too. :p

Mackay was just extremely impressive. Good skills on both sides of his body, excellent vision, reads the play well, likes to run and bounce and take the opposition on, and a smooth mover.

This may sound crazy but if we continue suffering so many injuries and he performs well in the SANFL I don’t think it’s out of the question he could play an AFL match or two. That’s how impressed I was with him and how comfortable he looked out there. Knights played 2 games in his first season, and VB played 11 so it's not as though Craig David doesn't give them an opportunity if they deserve it. I wouldn’t put money on him playing this year, but I won’t completely rule it out either.

That's great to hear Drummond, Mackay got me on board his bandwagon during the Norwood trial. A report on SAfooty said he was among the best for Souths. Pity about the hammy.

Named 3rd best for South in the Sunday Mail.

The hammy is a nuisance but nor overly important at this stage of his career.

Same as you did, Eggzoi, I jumped firmly onto the Mackay band wagon after seeing him play at Norwood.

Beautiful reader of the play, great skills and evasiveness and another one who accumulaates possessions at will.

He's about 8 to 10 kgs away from having a tough AFL body, but he WILL be a player of the future for us as a running wingman IMO. :thumbsu:

And significantly a very light Richard Douglas played three games in his first season so Craigy isn't afraid to send the smaller bodies out there if they deserve the opportunity.

Was going to go down to Unley, but I'm to lazy.

On a side note, went to get a crows guernsey this morning along with a few other small things (carwash stuff) and didn't get charged for it :D

Howd ya pull that off?!

Throught the sheer ineptness of the girl at the counter. No Idea what she was doing, didn't scan the guernsey, just chucked it straight in the bag :thumbsu:

Oh and Mackay 3rd best for South according to the Advertiser. Looks like we have unearthed another one...

Brill :thumbsu:

Was he the guy who carved it up in the TAC cup Grand Final?
