Griffin in for me is a must, Griffin for Hentschel, I saw an injury report saying Stevo could be out until round 4-5.

I would like Symes in but i'm not sure who for.

Symes for Petrenko

I don't agree with that, Petrenko has pace and is highly skilled, Symes is a bit in the middle for both of these. Petrenko hasn't been in our worst 3 in the last 2 games, surely he deserves a few more games.

If Symes were to come in i think it would be for Knights or Reilly.

yeah. But I was thinking who was our worst defensive rebounder.

Stevens in for Hentshel through Injury
Griffin wouldnt come in
Symes for Petrenko

There is no chance that will happen .......Petrenko might be moved up forwrd but he won't be dropped on his current form

The only times we kicked goals the other night was when we went direct eg. knights kicking long to Hentschel (goal), knights long kick to Porplycia (goal), Mcleod kicking to head of the sqaure (Tippet goal), Douglas kick to top of the sqaure (Maric goal) etc. Long direct footy will more games of footy than sideways rubbish.

Hey, what's your game mate, telling the truth about Knights kicking leading to goals?

Don't you know that you're supposed to join the mindless masses and ignore facts?

Now repeat after me " I want to be a mindless band-wagoner and in future I will only rubbish Knights' disposal". Got it??

PS By the way, you were spot on with your comments. :thumbsu:

you can't disagree that Knights has an issue with his disposal. Yes people can go over the top with the criticism but it is something that he needs to work on.

Stats for Round 2:

Sellar: 6K, 9HB, 15 possessions, 3 marks, 9 H/O, 1 tackle.

Schmidt: 16K, 11HB, 27 possessions, 8 marks, 3 tackles, 3rd best (also 3rd best by the WAFC). :thumbsu:

Moran: 4K, 11HB, 15 possessions, 5 marks, 15 H/O, 1 tackle, 2nd best.

Jacky: 12K, 7HB, 19 possessions, 7 marks

Shirley: 16K, 10HB, 26 possessions, 11 marks, 6 tackles, BOG.

Martin: 12K, 4HB, 16 possessions, 7 marks, 0.3.

Davis: 4K, 6HB, 10 possessions, 1 mark.

Armstrong: 15k, 6HB, 21 possessions, 5 marks, 1 tackle.

Gill: 13K, 4HB, 17 possessions, 12 marks, 4 goals, 2nd best.

Griffin: 8K, 6HB, 14 possessions, 5 marks, 14 H/O, 2 tackles, 4th best

Kite kicked a goal for Norwood reserves, Lee a goal for Sturt reserves. No mention of Donnelly or Young.

Good luck to the forwards then. I think we will see Taylor Walker playing more SANFL footy than AFL if we continue to play this style. Even against Collingwood our forwards struggled with this style of footy even though we won. I really fealt sorry for Walker the other night coz he had no chance.

The idea of the movement by handball is to break through the zone and get the ball down forward quickly. It's just not coming off yet but the game plan is not actually to move the ball slowly and awkwardly by hand and then wait for the opposition to flood the backline.

It will take a while to get right but we've already seen instances of it working very well in patches.

Drummond - how exciting is Schmidt? Can he be promoted to take Burton's place in the senior side? I can't wait to see what he can do at AFL level in our side :thumbsu:

Brilliant to see so many Crows players featuring in the bests, and almost all of them got a decent number of touches.

That game plan is all well and good if it wasn't so predictable.
Handballs do break lines but a string of handballs followed by a backwards handball from a player who has no awareness of where oppostions players are, is plainly suicidal. The idea is to do it with speed but by the time the ball is actually kicked oppostion players have begun to zone back.
The Crow play book at times could be written on the back of a postage stamp.
Handball, handball, handball, backwards handball, handball, break tackle, handball kick to a an unmarked player.
If that fails fall back into last years style of football and switch the play from one side of the ground to the other.
Teams know we do this time and time again.
Under no circumstances kick to a contest unless all options have been exhausted.

I know it is a work in progress but mix it up a bit! Tippett took a contested mark,Porps took one in the third quarter, Douglas crumbed a ball off a pack from a contest(he missed).
Forwards love the ball to come in quickly. For sure keep using handballs it is the way we play but where's plan/style C, D, or E?
Why are we continually making the finals but never advancing to the GF.
I feel a big part of it is our predictable style of play.Come September everything is scrutinise to the nth degree and realistically every team knows our game as well as we do.
The Crows definitely fight above their weight, they chase, tackle and work extremely hard but it clearly isn't enough.
Back the young blokes in every now and again and kick the ball to their area let them beat their opponent in a contest.

I would love to see just one kick out straight down the centre of the ground now that would suprise the oppostion.

am I going to get lambasted for saying Sellars stats are looking more positive than last year?

Even on the SANFL radio (107.9) they said he was good early on (I only listened to half time)

I gather he's playing as a ruckman now rather than half bench half 4th forward.

Always going to make his stats look better!

Not sure how rucking in SANFL is going to help his AFL development though!

well lets face it, any game time is better than none

and the stats he had are far better than the 4 he was getting last season.

yeah. But I was thinking who was our worst defensive rebounder.
Petrenko was far from our worst rebounding defender friday night, Simon Goodwin easily wins this catergory! His skill level for a bloke thats our captain was very poor and so was his decision making coming out of defence.

Stats for Round 2:

Davis: 4K, 6HB, 10 possessions, 1 mark.

Armstrong: 15k, 6HB, 21 possessions, 5 marks, 1 tackle.

Gill: 13K, 4HB, 17 possessions, 12 marks, 4 goals, 2nd best.

Symes: 10K, 8 HB, 18 possessions, 2 marks, 1.1, 1 tackle, 6th best.

Griffin: 8K, 6HB, 14 possessions, 5 marks, 14 H/O, 2 tackles, 4th best

Just thought I'd post the stats I took against the one from the Advertiser (I'm guessing thats where you got them from Drummond).

There's a few differences, especially with the amount of kicks Symes got and Griffin's hit outs. Maybe I was being favourable there :p

Armstrong: 14 kicks, 8 handballs, 5 marks, 1 tackle, 1 behind.

Gill: 12 kicks, 2 handballs, 12 marks, 1 tackle, 4 goals, 1 behind.

Davis: 5 kicks, 5 handballs, 3 marks.

Griffin: 7 kicks, 8 handballs, 4 marks, 23 hit outs.

Symes: 16 kicks, 8 handballs, 4 marks, 2 tackles, 1 goal, 1 behind.

Don't discount your stat taking The Advertiser stats are normally a tad off.

Can't see Knights or Reilly being dropped.

Overall you did a fine job. :thumbsu: I can't imagine hitouts being too count easy either. Must say those are impressive stats for a first gamer in Armstrong.

Imposed himself on the game, is probably the best way to call it.

Looked like he "fitted" in the team, ran straight at the ball/contest, etc etc.

Not spectacular stats but definitely a solid game (esp. when in the ruck)

:thumbsu:

I like to hear that:)

A little bit of agression in his game will go a long way. Once he realises he's 6'5 and 100 kilos he'll do some damage!
