Have you been down there? The bank looks zero like that

Birrarung Marr used to look a lot different. Requires a little imagination.

Yeah, like getting rid of part of the Yarra. The gap between the bank and the buildings isn't that big

I'm no surveyor but presumably the storefront and main access was going to be via Swanston & Flinders streets, rather than the path behind. We'll never know.

The bit you appear to like is the trees and the grass embankment (you barely see the building in that pic)

You don't need a shitty pizza hut looking apple shack to do that

No, the bit I liked was the store itself. There aren't many of them currently and they're a pain in the arse for me to get to.

No problem, just another lesson in so-called "progressive" politics. Carry on.

The store can still happen, just elsewhere in an existing building

We have one at Chadstone, and they didn't knock down the shopping centre to get it. It's a jb hifi, with blue t-shirts, nothing more

Paid ~$170 for an Apple Pencil, used it twice, and now it doesn't work at all. Don't think I'll get much of a hearing at JB.

Depends where you bought it. Fwiw apple store at Chaddy used to refer anything elsewhere to store of purchase

Bought it from the Apple store at Shoppo in Doncaster. JB would just say out of warranty, bad luck, buy another one. Apple is much more likely to have some expert advice, and if it's a battery issue I believe they're obligated to repair it for ~$45.

Don't hold your breathe, if they are busy, they basically tell you go to POP unless you wait for weeks. They are just a shop, not magical

Absolute bullshit decision. Fed Square heritage?

And it wasn't just rows of iPhones, it was a lot more than that.

Stupid Greens always saying we need to move to a low carbon knowledge economy.

The Apple store a key element of building that, now we have reputation as hard to work with.

(Full disclosure: my partner worked to set it all up)
IMHO this kind of thing couldn’t be built anywhere these days. Greens are little more than NIMBYs. I remember when an inner city council had an application for a development that provided care for disadvantaged people, and it was that socialist Stephen Jolly who allied with the Greens to knock it back because it didn’t fit in with the community.

Yep, a shocking effort.

They did similar prioritising bike lanes over accessible tram stops too.

No wonder they are targeting south of the Yarra now, they really are the post-material wealthy whites party now

what was wrong with Bourke St?

Our public spaces should be kept as such, there is more than enough available retail space in the city

It wasn't a retail store, is the bit so many people don't get.

Wasnt it to be a flagship store, to hold events as well as being a store? -- kinda like the Microsoft reactor in Sydney? That isn't impeding on public space..
