He lied to protect HIMSELF, nothing to do with the media.
The media didn't make him drink, the media didn't make him get into a car with Hudson, the media didn't make him get into Heaters car, the media didn't alter his last contract.

Didak is Didak's worst enemy, not the media

Forget the lie.. he was on his last chance and chose to get plastered 5 days before a game that decided our finals campaign.. HE DOES NOT WANT TO WIN.. not the way Geelong players want to win

You can only hand out so many last chances before your club looks like a bunch of twats

As eddie said , side by side we stick together.Alan didak hasnt broken any law as far as i know, hes just been a victim of circumstances. If he wasnt playing for collingwood this wouldnt get half the attention.the media are scum

ostrich hey, tell me what law he has broken.he without sin cast the first stone, and saying do we want alan didak or a premiership is a ridiculous coment.weve won one premiership in 50 years, i would think its a bit of a long shot saying if we got rid of didak we would win one.why would we get rid of didak when we are after kerr?hes got far more form than didak yet because he doesnt play for collingwood his past is swept under the carpet.double standards.think of the joy he has brought to all pie supporters

So if I understand you correctly, you are saying the only time a player should be cleared from a club for disciplinary reasons is if he broke the Law.
As long as player doesn't break the Law he can do anything he likes.

Are you for real Ostrich?

Exactly, he has had his chances and blown them. We need to get what we can for him before his currency drops any further.

Once a drunk, always a drunk.

Pfft.

We are not going to just 'roll over' and accept what we can get for him just because of last week's incident. We will NOT jeoprdise and compromise our future just because the media and others such as yourself want us to.

I don't think anyone cares whether or not Didak is drunk or if any player is drunk for that matter. He can do what he wishes in his private life just as long as he delivers in his professional life.

I will like to see your reaction when Didak lines up in round 1 2009 for the CFC.

Yeah it's a brilliant preparation for a game

No he cant.. not unless he wants to break team rules!!!

What team rules?

There are no rules in place ruling out drinking on a Sunday night as far as I am aware- unless someone can prove otherwise.

Sure what they did was stupid but it was not against team rules.

You are now making up theories to support your own conclusions.

First of all, a player blowing .144 wouldn't be presenting himself to training in acceptable condition... that I can guarantee you would be a team rule. That's Shaw though, we don't know how drunk Didak was.

Despite Eddie's recent minimisations, I don't think Dids is safe yet. Keep in mind, it's in the club's best interests either way to put Didak's indiscretions into some sort of broader context in the community. If we keep Didak, we want him to appear respectable. If we don't wish to retain Didak, we want to preserve his trade value by promoting his character.

Personally, I think Dids just loses the plot while drinking. If we could get him back onto his previous behavioural caveats inserted into his last contract, I think he'd be fine. The question is, has enough damage been done already? They weren't afraid to trade Tarrant in 2006, so I'm not confident either way.

I'd go as far to say as the players at Collingwood have more freedom then most. Last year and the year before I did a lot of promotional work with a couple of nightclubs and especially in 06 the amount of times I saw players out on a friday/saturday when we played sunday shocked me.

As for the Didak contract clause I'd stab at saying that was more media pacifying then anything, I am not sure he was totally off the drink at any point but that's all I can / will say on that.

Well you better tell that to his team mates, coaches and the Collingwood football club who were furious with all 3 of them for being out drinking 5 days before a game

We may be covering old ground here, but i'm new here, so forgive me if I am! To those 'supporters' of the Pies who had that "no Didak no Membership in 09" at the saints game- Shame on you. You are the type of members the pies can do without. This is a team game, we follow Collingwood, not Didak. Granted, he is a fantastic player, probably our best, but him being out on a sunday night, the week before a season defining game, after we have been smacked twice in two weeks, and all the other stuff he has been into, just throws the support we give him back in our faces. Why should we keep him if that's how he feels about the club? I think most of the players feel the same way. There are alot of us who don't earn the big bucks, and we still give the club our hard earned year in year out, expecting the players to take the season seriously, and perparing as best as they can for every game, expecting them to be working towards the flag we crave and deserve. Off season, do what you like to an extent, but during the season, why is it so hard to stay off the p!ss? I bet those same fans who won't buy a membership if Didak leaves would be the same ones who are first in line in 09 if Didak leaving secures a certain J Brown or D Kerr.

Players shouldn't be expected to be off the piss, some players should if it clearly affects their behaviour or playing ability. That said if the club gives them the freedom to be out, so long as they can preform and keep themself out of trouble there should be an obligation to stay out of trouble and it is unfortunate the players can't meet that.

If that is your first post, well done and you will be a welcome addition around here :thumbsu:

There are good arguments for saving Didak, and good arguments for letting him sink. The question is, what's best for Collingwood? (Didak should be able to look after himself. But of course he can't)

Unless we get a first-class trade for him, I think he's worth enough to the club to give him another chance under the following circumstances, or similar:

A stringent good-behaviour clause to be inserted in his contract again, including a no-nightclub curfew.
He must get off the drink and stay off it while he's contracted to the club. If that involves counselling & education, so be it.
He doesn't play in finals, whatever happens.

Lastly, and this is where you can help lads;

All Pies barrackers to come off the drink in sympathy. Only during the season, of course.:D

And if he thinks that's too tough, he can try getting a real job.
