is the fact that the club was virtually bankrupt and on the verge of closing in 1990 meant that we have been chasing everyone else for the last 25 years.
We virtually had to start from scratch when the power clubs Collingwood, Geel, Hawks, Carl and Essendon were winning premierships. Then the expansion clubs came in and got stacks of money and players. We got ourselves out of debt, slowly, and now are pushing for a longevity that was almost impossible to see 25 years ago.
Had Richmond been given the money from the AFL that every other start up club/ clubs on the brink, would our situation be different now? i think so. During the 90's - early 2000s we were fighting with both hands tied behind our back, something that would have caused other clubs to fold in that time.
am i right in believing that coming back from the brink of extinction been underestimated during this time?
