Sheepers...I just realised my recruiting department is employing the same strategy as Melbourne with the 'it's all about the midfield' approach. They've since been sent packing, and the new team has been told to adopt Geelong's approach of 'if it's over 200cm get it now'.

Haha, I was hoping he would make it to the pick after my next... I got my Hurley / Lynch combo... was probably being greedy to expect to back it up with Darling and McGovern

For this game it would be great if I could move the posts in our draft thread to this more general discussion thread as well as a few of the other blokes who are on a fair bit.

I doubt it can be done but it doesn't hurt to ask.

Also guys just in case anybody missed it in the draft thread, Dewah now wants his picks to be skipped so he can select when he logs on.

I have told him we will do this but we will only let one pick be skipped at any given time because we can't afford to let one team fall too far behind the pack. So if he hasn't made his make up selection by the time his next pick comes around he will be autopicked the highest scoring player from last year. Please keep this in mind and adjust your strategy accordingly if you were planning on scooping up some older point scorers down the track.

Grundy was a strategic pick, he holds a lot of value and is only likely to increase. Clearly the best young ruck in the comp.

I now have the flexibility dependent on how the rest of the draft plays out... if everyone is going young I can try and scoop up all the veterans and trade Grundy for points. If all the good scorers start dropping off the board I can trade Goldstein for a quality youngster.

I would be highly surprised if all three of my rucks were on my list come round 1.

Sorry if I didn't make that clear at the beginning. I must have just assumed people would know what I meant by keeper league.

Some go year round trading but I think that just leads to people becoming fatigued with the game. Trading during the off-season and mid season break should be plenty.

Nobody has any huge issue with this do they?

Trading is great, adds an extra dimension post-draft. In my NFL league, trading is usually allowed throughout the first half of the season. But an off and mid season seems good for AFL

It was down to both those two for me with this pick. Both players have the scope to have big years, but even their quieter years are more than solid so you can't really go wrong.
