For the last lot of group games as most of you are well aware teams from the same group will all play at same time. The beauty is both games will be shown at the same time on SBS1 and SBS2 and there will be a replay on both channels after. Personally I'd rather see Holland vs Chile on SBS2 for example to see who gets top spot and will avoid Brazil rather than a dead rubber between Spain and us. Some Noobs wouldn't be aware. Some just wouldn't care.

Late to the party I know, but we can only hope that that was the last we'll hear of Basheer and Foster. 'Fozz' has been discussed to death but I absolutely detest Basheer. Just the droning on and on, the continual referral to every cross as a 'centre' and insistence on using the local nickname for the opponent (La Furia Roja today) to make him sound worldly. Just shut up and call them Spain FFS. I can still remember wanting to punch out the TV in 2010 during the match of 'Bafana Bafana' v 'El Tri' (South Africa v Mexico).

His 'highlight' so far this tournament for me (Thanks Ned) was at half time v Chile when he said 'Chile will go in disappointed, but not the Socceroos'. Chile led 2-1 David.

i dont mind a commentator in fudbol at the World Cup cheerleading, cos i know we will get our arse handed to us. So if we can get an honourable loss, it is almost more entertaining listening to Foster!

That's pretty shit on Slater's part to be fair. He is a cheerleader but you don't shoot him down when he's trying to pump up the game in this country.

Why not? Presumably we'd be ok with it if Slater was being critical of a player, or a coach. It's not as if criticism of a commentator would actually be enough to turn a potential supporter off the sport, is it? Foster was absolutely awful and completely unnecessary. As others have mentioned he sounded like they'd just plucked the drunkest 'Fanatic' they could find and stuck him in the box. If anything, it would be preferable for the criticism to have come from elsewhere (as Slater and Foster are known to have issues with each other) and he probably could have elaborated a bit on exactly why he was terrible (so it didn't just look like another potshot between the two), but it's hard to argue with his sentiments.

Spot on by Slater. Listening to Foster is like having that boring bloke next to you at the footy who gives you the benefit of his opinion all game on what the players are doing wrong. He was so annoying during the Australia v Spain game I muted the sound, which is a crappy option also.

Good. Foster's "special comments" were woeful. I've got 5 mates sitting next to me screaming like crazed idiots, I don't need an extra voice from the tele.

They should just get the FIFA feed. Much better standard.
