No, his very pro Australian. Too pro, and he has huge dreams about what Australian football should be. He cares why too much about how we should play, and how every football nation in the world plays. He sees himself as a preacher really of Latin American football really, to us uneducated aussie football lovers.

Your confusing 'cares too much' and 'pro australian' with him stroking his ego, those rants are just his ego talking down to the 'Australian' viewer. I dont watch him much but i read a few of his articles in the smh and its like hes from a different world.

Anti-australian is probably not the right phrase, hes just very out of touch. He reminds me of those little old italian ladies you see that go to church and havent been outside their local community for x amount of years. The whole SBS soccer department is a bit like that to be honest.

i think the problem with the old guard (murray etc) is they still see football from an old perspective, whereas the game has evolved so much a lot of games are even and it comes down to a tactical perspective with regards to winning games, as opposed to the old days of "winning the ball running it up the pitch and kicking it and hope it gets past the keeper"

Agree. 4 years ago I used to agree often with him, but now I no longer take him serious. He means well actually and what he is trying to preach has a lot more merit than many give him credit for, but he's lost the plot completely.

People shouldn't be offended by him though. In Holland in particular there are several guys like him (including Cruyff) who come out every week with rants about everything. That's accepted over there - it all adds to the discussion around the game.

Lately they've been talking way too much. They should start the live feed when the players are in the tunnel ready to come out. But nowadays they only start when the players are already out. I really like to see players waiting in the tunnel and shake hands with their club team mates. They just wouldn't shut up in the studio.

I didnt mean anti-socceroos, i meant anti-anything that doesnt support his narrow views, most of that includes bagging every other sport that aussies love and not really appreciating or caring who makes up his viewing audience.
