I'm set on this part of my team, but I just can' fill the remaining four positions. I've got 1.95m to do it, so it's not like it should be hard, I just can't find a combo I like.

Was pretty set on Simpson/JPK/Lycett/Mitchell, but now I'm just not sure. Anyone recommend who to fill those spots? Only person I'm set on not picking is Newnes in the defense.

Like you've said, you're in a pretty good position cash wise and the rest of your squad looks pretty solid. You're likely going to need a little bit of cash to upgrade some of the cheaper rookies you have selected that aren't likely to play, so keep that in mind.
Of the 4 you mentioned as possible inclusions, what I would do FWIW, downgrade JPK to a cheaper midfielder such as Wines perhaps, even swallow or Steven here (your mids are strong anyhow, you can take the hit there), then use the cash to upgrade Lycett into a genuine premo ruck. Goldstein/Jacobs if possible. Personally I don't like the Kelly selection, past his best, low ceiling, but can understand why some are taking him.

Taking that advice, I could get Docherty, Dangerfield, Maric and Mitchell, with 33k in the bank?

I certainly think that makes you stronger.
I'm not sold on Docherty myself, I'd prefer to roll the dice on Newnes than he, but comes down to personal preference.
I think the structure is better with the changes you have made.

This doesn't really refer to any line in particular, so I'll post it here.

Interesting to see that while most clubs try to move their more experienced players to HF/HB to make way for younger midfielders, it seems like some clubs are doing the opposite, and moving the experience back into the midfield.

Chris Scott said Bartel and Kelly will be playing more midfield compared to last year, and as I look on the lions board Jed Adcock is named on the wing for a fair few 'best 22' teams.

Could be some value in older players going into the midfield this year. Especially Bartel, his versatility over the years has robbed us of a 115+ player.

I think Hawthorn will be adopting a similar policy also

Mitchell is the obvious one to go back in, but do you think Burgoyne will too?

My best guess is yes. With the addition of Frawley, I think the trio of Hodge, Mitchell and Burgoyne will collectively need to spend less time in the back 6. They will each likely rotate through there at times, but overall spend less total time down there. Hopefully more midfield time for Burgoyne. His scores in the first half of last year show how much more SC value he has when played through there. He's actually a pretty handy forward also, so some time up there and a few goals would be great as well. Has some high goal kicking years in his past when with Port...could be a steal this year

I seem to be changing this on the daily... But I'd love to hear your thoughts?

You have mid-price action on every line. Try to minimise the number of players between 200k and 450k. Each year there is a relatively small number of midpricers that step up to an elite level. Having a punt on too many of these is bound to come unstuck somewhere, which will mean a few more trades for you than another team who went with a few more rookies/premiums.

My go - V2. *No byes have been taken onto account*
Fire away!

Backs - I've gone with more mid price madness than ever before however I think 85-90 is a pass mark for a keeper on this line. So few reliable rookies available I've gone for Yeo and KK to break out. I don't want to much trouble trading in/out players just get someone on the park.

Mids - Set and forget 4 kingpins, I'm backing Wines over Sloane. Standard GnR set up for this line.

Forwards - I hate the inconsistent nature of KPF so I've gone quite small. Gray I think is worth the money and possibly could be the next "Ablett Jr" type scoring king pin. Really rate Bennell, the rest is pretty standard.

Rucks - I've had to gamble somewhere to get ahead and it's with my rucks.
Naitanui we all know the risk v reward, Leuenberger reminds me of Dean Cox, I think his opposite number will play forward a lot so I'm not worried about his time on ball being affect too much. When on he is as good as anyone. (Risks - No ruck back up for two injury prone players)

I really like your midfield, a lot of depth in the younger players...Can Swallow be a permanent M5 these days?
The backline with Shaw, Birchall and Ibbo might be a little too injury prone for mine but I like the basic structure.
Rucks are brilliant.
Forward is one keeper too shallow for mine but then again sacrifices have to be made somewhere.

Swallow full P/S I'm confident he'll get back over 110 ppg

Yeah will swap out birch and ibbo closer to the season..

My Fwds are set barring injury

Ploughman is awkwardly priced, why is he included? Heeny is still on a modified program becasue of injury isnt he? I think he is, have a sniff around the swans board mate.

Heeney named to play this weekend i believe

Disagree. If anyone, Boekhorst will be front and centre for the vest, particularly early on until he adjusts to AFL level as he looked slightly out of his depth against the Eagles on the weekend. Cripps, on the other hand, was among our best three players and looked right at home.

Cripps is highly rated, and tore it up at VFL level prior to his injury. Is a contested possession machine who is built for SC scoring, and he addresses an area that Carlton desperately lack in the engine room. Takes McLean's vacancy straight up.

Also, if anything, the support of Judd/Murphy/Gibbs will help strengthen his game to help take attention off him and share the ball with in close passages of play. Against the Eagles he was almost running solo.

Avoid him if you prefer, but he was my smokey early on. I took him out of my side due to adjustments, but after seeing him meet my expectations against the Eagles, he's well and truly back in my side. :thumbsu:

Agree addresses a problem for the blues. Is expensive but has JS written all over him. Been watching him very closely.
