What are people's thoughts? I'm not quite sold on my team, especially Menzel, but he's tempting me. Was also thinking Lincoln McCarthy, will he play though? $200k in the bank though.

You don't have Rockliff??

Same and I'm hoping like hell to keep it that way. Need rookies FWD and BACK to make it happen though.

Now we play the waiting game.

yes I know how you feel I'm in the same boat as you. I have exactly the same structure as you. If there isn't enough fwd and back rookies named for round 1 i will have to change my structure. Something I don't want to do on the eve of round 1

I am also intending to go in with the 3-5-2-3 structure and for the sake of all of us, hopefully there will be enough FWD/Def rookies. Although I'm finding that assuming the worst and there is a shortage of rookies, a downgrade of one of the 5 mid premos to libba can help sure up the D4 or F4 position. Although it's obviously not ideal as it's straying from the pure gun/rookies structure and the starting midfield it enables is :fire::fire::fire::fire::fire::fire::fire:

I have a quandry. I had Libba, and M Crouch. can see both together getting 85 averate. 170 together as a minimum. I turned them into Parker and Mathison. Parker 115 and Matheson 50. Combined 165 minimum.
Pro for Libba/Crouch = Good scoring
Con = Won't make huge coin and will probably trade both out to upgrade, 4 trades.

Pro for Parker/Matheson = Parker is a Primo
Con - Matheson will make a bit but has less JS and will be upgraded anyway, together I'm poorer score wise for about 8 rounds until I can upgrade Matheson.

I have read lots of arguments for Libba and Crouch (being mid pricers) and lots of good arguments against getting them. the result is I'm confused and I want some help from my friends to offer advice.

Yours truly
Confused as ****!
I see Libba averaging at least 95, but I'm expecting 100+
He has games where goes nuts with 15+ contested possessions and 10+ tackles. In both 2014 and 2015 he had 5 games where he went 130+, big scores like that will bump his average.

I'm only taking Libba in the mids, only because he is a fallen premium, not a speculative mid pricer. Matt Crouch doesn't have the history, and Brad Crouch's body is going to fail him.

Very happy with it. Only concern is no Pendles... But unsure where to put him.

Back: Shaw, Laird, Bartel and Yeo should all finish top 6... I'm fairly confident about this. Yeo cemented his spot the second Masten went down. Weitering and Brown should play 22 games and offer great JS and scoring potential. I see a lot of potential in Weitering...

Mid: Fyfe, Ablett, Rockliff, Libba = all givens. Plenty has been said about all already. I have a huge mancrush on Parker - I think he is criminally underpriced. The bloke is an absolute jet, my favourite player and should finish top 10. Crouch and Mills should score well, and M8 will be a playing rookie.

Rucks: Goldilock- easy choice. Very impressed with Gawn this pre-season - can see him going BIG.

Forward: Dusty and Barlow will finish top 6. Tippet is my risk here - had a massive end to 2015 and offers valuable ruck cover. Big fan of Simkin - think he will play majority midfield in a struggling Bombers team. Kerridge and Petracca will be very handy and will score well.

Very happy with the team, minus Pendles. If Sheridan keeps playing well, will most likely go: Shaw > Sheridan, Crouch > Pendlebury.

Nice team, solid. I think Jetta might grab Masten's spot, Redden to go in too. I love Yeo but I'm very weary of his role.
Good Luck!

Hey guys.. long time observer very rare poster. Never really ask for advice on SC... more often than not I'm giving it. Thought I would look for some constructive feedback. I'm feeling pretty content with this side (obviously starting rookies aside).
In past years I have tended to go the way of stacking my midfield with rookies and spend on other lines. I have come to the decision that im going to role with a pretty stacked midfield and take a few risks on other lines.
I am a very stubborn person so I doubt I'll be changing that decision but I would love to hear your thoughts.
P.S I am trying to talk myself out of De Goey but I think he is a star in the making and could go bang in his second year.. On Sheridan I have had him since the start and he is going nowhere... just spewing he is on everyone's radar now.

Taking a couple of risks in the backs in kk and Langdon (feel as though he will improve again)

Not sure what to do with my mids, been swapping between danger & Sidey/Parker or pendles & Shiel/Parker :/

Rucks easy

I like Mitch robsinson this season, gut feeling he'll average 100+
Anyone think I should change him to Merrett, Greene type player instead?

Thanks in advance

You're taking huge risks in Def and at R2, and I'm not sure you're really getting bang for your buck with the cash you are saving.
To put it another way, are Sheridan and DeGoey worth it for the risks you are taking?

Thanks for the response HL. What do you see as Yeo's main role? Surely not a shutdown defender you'd think?

Got enough to pick my two forward rookies, just haven't got around to it as yet. If I pick bottom-end ones I should have roughly $50k left over, which I might use to upgrade Dangerfield to Fyfe.

Jarrod Picket looked nothing like an AFL footballer during the NAB game. He was clearly overweight and has a long way to go before meeting the requirements to play regular AFL games. Can't see GWS giving him a run any time soon.

Consider Menadue instead perhaps.

In general, I think you'll struggle to generate enough cash with your midfield-heavy structure. I would suggest Wines -> rookie and put another keeper into your forward line.

Thank you for the feedback. As I said I am trying to talk myslef out of Jordan... Sheridan on the other hand will not be leaving. I know ruck is a risk as well im considering going Jordan to Wells and Lobbe up to Gawn

Has been discussed a fair bit on here but he will play midfield minutes if there is no injuries in the backline,
there's the catch. He could find himself back if needed as he has been used in different roles in the past and I think that will continue until he locks down a permanent midfield role which I hope is this year.

Excellent, thanks mate. Here's hoping your mobs backline gets through the year unscathed then :)

A fews PODs I like.
My concern here is the number of mid-pricers. This side should score nicely early on, but can you generate enough ca$h to finalise your team by mid year and keep up with the big boys in the latter rounds? Sheridan/Crouch/Libba/De Goey/ is Mills a mid-pricer? / is Lynch a top 6 premo?
Are there enough trades to upgrade these guys should they not be top 6/8 in their respective zones...
I've always been a guns and rooks advocate... I suggest waiting on more solid info on the cheaper rooks who will get games and then doing some downgrades and subsequent upgrades.
All this being said, with risk comes reward... if you nail ALL of your mid-price selections, you don't have a need for trading them out- and you're way ahead of the rest- Big risk though.

Having lots of mid pricers makes my team look strange too. M Crouch and Libba are in and out. I have Lonergan instead of Sheridan. You have Degoey I have Wells. 13 keepers for both of us is good, but not ideal. This year as has been discussed, is a good year for experimenting with mid pricers. Your rookies are good, though Broad is very unpoplular and tiges fans think he's a way off. I will have to go Wietering if S Collins (freo doesn't come up) Maybe you could find a way to upgrade Broard to Weitering.?
Looks good to me otherwise.

No fyfe. No worries! ..................... *cowers waiting for posters to go nuts!!!!!!!:D

Cheers for that.

I previously had Lobbe instead of Gawn
Brodie Smith instead of Shaw
Franklin instead of a forward rookie

I could downgrade Wines to bring a premium forward in.
