Keep in mind Milera and his direct opponents on the day. I'd say against a full strength West Coast squad he's scoring 50 max. He's very much like Cockatoo from last year. I'd back in Cockatoo and Kerridge before Milera for this year.

Understand what you're saying brother.

My opinion is I'm not going to let 200k rookies dictate my premium selections.

For example if I want Mills, I'll have to look at downgrading a McVeigh to Yeo - for example

Cash generation is the key to getting your side fully upgraded in the quickest time possible.

The rookies that will score the most and make the most money should be picked first, not as an afterthought. Premiums come after IMO.

If Daniel Currie gets the gig, I will be extremely tempted to throw complete caution to the wind

i thought on this idea earlier in pre season.
understand the logic as it does make all other lines more solid.
main problem is your sacrafising a 110 average ruck for 70-80 average rookie.
different risk reward to a midfield place where your dropping a 100 average (M8) for a rooky who should average 70-90.
if nichols went down injured the guaranteed game time currie would atain would make it worth a crack. but i just cant see currie averaging more than a well selected mid rooky.

Hehe can't help it ;)

Do like the look of Milera though!

Really hoping Cockatoo plays a lot through the middle in our NAB game :thumbsu:
Cockatoo will play in middle during nab but once season starts he will be way down the peaking order for midfield time. I'm staying clear his got Jed Anderson written all over him massive hype preseason does nothing come season time.

He will play more midfield time in NAB than he will in regular season this is correct.

But he will play more midfield than you think. With both Selwood's missing out on round 1 he will be higher in rotations. Has had full pre-season training in the midfield whole time & with Dangerfield mentoring him as they are both explosive type of players.

I'd say (with both Selwood's out) the centre bounce round 1 will be Danger, Caddy & Blicavs. Then the next group of rotations coming through I'd say would be Bartel, Cockatoo & Horlin-Smith (if playing), with Motlop & Duncan on the wing, and Guthrie running off half back :thumbsu:

You could be right fairly average 2nd group Guthrie could stay mid till selwoods return too. How many rounds will cockatoo get those midfield minutes 1 maybe 2 rounds. I think he'll average between 60 and 70 at best he could also suffer 2nd year blues and do less. He doesn't interest me slightly.

Don't think he'll suffer 2nd year blues because he didn't do much 1st year haha :p

But fair enough he's locked in as my F5.

I might have missed it but have they confirmed that Jelwood will miss Round 1?

This was in The Age a few days ago:

"However, skipper Joel Selwood continues to build his fitness, having suffered plantar fasciitis in his right foot, which has restricted him to a modified training program since December.

Selwood has lifted his running but is still likely to miss the round-one opener against Hawthorn.

"It will be a natural build from here. He will amp it up over the next month, for sure," Hocking said.

"He definitely has started running but a lot of the conditioning program has to be done on the bike.

"There are a few different ways you can do that [build fitness] - make sure the heart gets up to the level it needs to be so he can still can get a conditioning hit, but also loading his legs at the same time."

Selwood's brother, Scott, the former West Coast Eagle, is also in the recovery group as he rehabilitates from a third surgery on his ankle.

"He is pretty much in mind with what we expected after he had ankle surgery. It was a case of making sure we get that right and progress him at the rate that is relevant to that injury and that surgery," Hocking said.

"He definitely won't be round one but he won't be too far after that.""

Joel Selwood will find a way to play Rd1. He doesn't sit out a Hawthorn game unless he's wheelchair bound.

even then they put him in the fwd pocket!

15 games in 9 years against Hawthorn. If he's missed a game against them I don't recall it. Highest score 185 - Lowest score 69 - 113.13 average vs Hawks.

shaw bartel burgoyne dea brown broad collins hartley

pendles beams gray kennedy wells libba crouch petracca polkinghorne jansen gore

goldy currie grimley

dusty menzel motlop higgo boomer simpkin menadue frost

probably going to change polkinghorne depending on other rookies during nab.

considering swapping crouch for mills/rookie

hoping at least one of currie frost grimley play each week and to upgrade with a cash cow later
