This year there are 35 trades due to the potential/expected need to use trades due to covid issues.

How are you viewing this?

1. The extra trades are an opportunity to be more aggressive than a normal year. Eg more sideways and/or more risky selections. Presumably based on an expectation that covid will require less than 5 extra trades.

2. General strategy won’t change. Presumably because you expect the extra 5 trades to be the same as additional covid-related trades.

3. You will be more conservative than normal. Presumably because you expect that you will need to use more than 5 trades due to covid issues.

Not sure if it was you who moved my post above. I just wanted to see the poll results of my question more than anything. I tried to include a poll I’m not sure if it worked.

Is it possible to post this poll on the board?
Can do ...will in between games

Our cash league is using total points as the secondary ladder rank. Does anyone know if total points includes rounds one and two or starts accumulating when the league matchups began this past weekend?

It includes rounds 1 and 2.

I thought it might be a good time to revisit the new rule changes this year and how we all will try to use them better next year.
Boosts are amazing. So many more trade options with three trades a week. I reckon I missed less good rookies this year solely because of boosts.
DPP changes surprisingly had a big effect. Most players who got dpp added as forward or rucks have turned out good picks. Not so much with the defenders (Daicos the exceptional exception) and midfielders.
5 extra trades has made our teams better and added the possibility of 24th or 25th premos, Working against this is the boosts so we have effectively run out of trades earlier or at the same time.
I don't think the game has been made worse by any of the changes which surprises me tbh. I like all the changes and cant wait to have another crack at it next year.
How have you guys found the changes? Do you feel you have used the new rules wisely? What would you do differently?

IMO the boosts/extra trades have made it easier to get the better side. It's also made teams more similar too though.

The boosts definitely help with not missing rookies, probably means you trade some too soon though.

For me I used too many trades early on sideways trades. Will not do this next year, will revert to the rule of not sideways trading uninjured premo's. Need to be more patient for the first 5-6 rounds, no jumping on premo's that have a great start, as they usually come back to the pack by mid year.

The DPP changes are the most interesting change. Really benefited going light up forward and getting Parker/Bont/Smith types later. Depending on who retains forward status this will probably be the strategy again.

For the record.
I used my boosts from round 6-10.
I was complete round 13.
Mids complete round 8.
I've gone up in the rankings every week since round 8.
I got some things right I reckon. I think if anything I should have traded a bit earlier. I missed decent midpricers that gave others a big leg up to begin the year. I started from too far back I reckon. I need to pick a better starting team next year.
Oh and I suck at captain choices. Thats a given.

I really hope we go back to 30 trades. 35 was fun, but I prefer having a few less, makes it more interesting.

Happy to keep the boosts though.
Wish they went back to 20 trades. All teams alike is shite.

No byes. R12 is a week off for everyone. 40 trades. 8 trade boosts. Plus a DVC option (Deputy Vice Captain)
I reckon this is a chance, quite a bit of chat in this direction in the media this year.

Would be a big change for SC, no way we need 35 trades with no byes to worry about.

It’s not about nuffies like us, we’ll rock up rain, hail or shine.
The changes are about the ‘casuals’ and you’d have to say that by and large they’ve been OK in terms of keeping people engaged longer.
Do agree that the extra trades seem to result in teams converging a bit, because you don’t have to choose between painting the fence and getting a double downgrade in.
With a boost, you can cover off both.

I actually think only our mids and defenders have converged.
Forwards lines and rucks have more variety than ever before. At least in any season I can remember.

Very good point (as they tend to be with you, mate).
Off-topic, but those who got on D Cameron early and might be able to pivot to RoMa for the run home and free up cash might be just about better placed than anyone else. Funny how the stars align sometimes.
Tbh, big Goldenrod on the downlow just about the best going around currently.

20 trades, Friday night lockout, no loopholes, less articles on the herald sun site about who to trade in and out each week

Is the ruck variance actually to do with the game rules though? I feel like it’s more down to the absolute ****ery that picking a ruck has been with all the injuries. I’ve had five different premo rucks plus Preuss roll through my R1 & 2, surely it won’t be like that next year.

If Gawn and Grundy had played 21-22 games and been the clear best like the last 3/4 years then everyone would have had then too. So many injuries this year.

Agree go back 30 trades.

I d be cool with them getting rid of the boosts as well. It takes more skill to plan your trades over a 2-3 week period to get in that high priced premo u really need.

I guess everyone got so comfortable with set and forget rucks over the last few years the spiteful SC Gods felt the need to shake it up a bit.

Friday night, Watching late changes for Sunday teams. Looking at late outs for friday teams. F**k this I should be relaxing with my family after a week of work.
