I'm thinking the same. If he fires vs Cats today, looks a definite good gamble

I thought Yarran was close to BOG again today.

This kid could be anything, very McLeod like. At one stage in front of me he'd run that much he was nearly going to spew, he is really getting an appetite for hard work to go with the skills.

Locked in now. Seen write up on AFL.com. Convinced worth the gamble @ 300k

Got 1.05m to spend on 2 forwards? Who do you think i should look at? Already got Riewoldt and Pav.

Tossing up between Chapman, Franklin, Rioli, Didak, Harvey and Goodes.

Only combo i can't manage is Chapman + Franklin

I'm gonna say Chapman and Goodes...

I know there's the concern over Chappy, but from what I've been told he'll be right to go round 1. And I can't bring myself to take him out of my team.

As for Goodes, he averaged 114 in 2009 playing as a forward. He kicked 6 last week and another 4 today. Longmuire came out today and said Goodes is the fittest he's ever seen him for the start of a footy season. He burnt me last year but I've locked him in again to start this year. Fingers crossed

I like Franklin and Goodes to start the year out of that list Ed. Injury concerns on Chappy, and Dids is still underdone. Both better upgrade targets probably. Still not convinced on Rioli his body concerns me plus starting him and Franklin probably not ideal. Harvey is the smokey. Will probably be a pretty unique pick this year given his age. A little overpriced maybe but just might have one more big year left in him.

I'm finding the forwards tough to pick this year there are not many premiums I am keen on apart from Franklin, Roo and Goodes. Am tempted to throw 1 or 2 midpricers in and take my chances. Yarran and Leon floating around half back have certainly grabbed my attention.

Cheers for the advice guys.

Have currently taken Franklin + Goodes who've both had great pre-seasons and the extra coin as let me upgrade Boyd to Judd.

Would dearly love Chapman peteshep he pretty much burned me of a top 100 overall last season i'd say, but just the injury concern as the moment is putting me off. Will wait and see closer to round 1 what media reports coming out of Geelong are like. :thumbsu:

Yeah, when you phrase it "Franklin + Judd > Chapman + Boyd" it's definitely the first given the respective preseasons.

Does anyone know what the go with Pavlich is? I haven't heard much about him through the pre-season. No injury concerns? Am I good to have him from round 1?

Thoughts on Vacoe? Played in the wing yesterday and was close to bog?

Superstar in the making IMO. At the end of last year I was convinced I'd pick him this year as this would be his break out year, especially with Gaz leaving. Expect to see a lot more of him on the wing and in the midfield. All class and silky smooth skills. Consistency tends to be his main issue, you'll notice he drifts in and out of games a bit. Once he gets consistent though will be hard to stop.

Currently don't have him in my side though due to his shoulder operation earlier in the pre-season. Going to wait and see how he goes and maybe pick him up after round 6 if he's looking good

What are peoples thoughts on Prestia? I thought he was doing really well but then noticed that Mike sheehan didnt have him in his best 22 or even as an emergancy.

Only problem with Varcoe is his price. He has to be a keeper (100 average) or he's just wasting you a trade and a potential cash cow.

He's injury record doesn't give me much faith either

Will be a very good player in the future. Round 2 spot is still a bit iffy (I'd bet he'll be given a go though) so there is that worry. Also the fact that he is 40k dearer than most other rookies means you'd have to be pretty certain he'll average more than guys like Richardson, Tapscott, Matera, McKernan, which I'm not sure he'll be able to do.

Not a bad pick and if you have the money to get him in your starting team he's worth the punt, but for your bench I'd be looking at cheaper options that will likely score just as well as him (like the dudes mentioned above) and save yourself the money.

I wouldnt be to concerned about his injuries, he is young and it is doubtful that he will have any recurring issues. If he can cement a place in the midfield he should be able to average 100. However, if he plays mostly off the flank rotating through he will only reach mid 90's. There are alot of players pushing for the vacant spot in Geelongs midfield, and Varcoe is not guaranteed the spot on a regular basis. One to watch though.

Whre peoples thoughts on R O'Keefe? He seems cheap to me at $440,00.

Does anyone have him?

I think his best is behind him to be honest (scoring wise). Would love to be wrong, but it just seems when teams find a way to effectively shut him down he struggles a bit. I don't have him in my team, he's just too awkward a player to judge at the minute and i believe he has been a little underwhelming so far this pre-season. Although not 100% sure if he was going at half pace through the games.
