Knights by a long way, if fit.

I disagree, Zaharakis is looking impressive. If fit Knights might be a better options but not by a long way. Zaharakis looked great last night. Really impressed with the way he played.

This might be able to provide some more insight:

Cyril Rioli to blossom in the Hawthorn midfield

At the moment, I'm tossing up between Cyril, Green & Sylvia for my F5 spot

Should definitely get more time around the ground, which you'd imagine would translate into a higher SC average.

Would def go with Rioli. Even if he doesn't increase his time in the midfield he will still score well rotating from Half Forward. Found his feet towards the end of the year, and I cant see him dropping off too much.

On another note, i'm honoured to be part of your sig :thumbsu:

Pav, Goodes or Brent Harvey?

All proven super coach guns over the last 5 years, all more than capable of high score, but all over 30.

Are we going to see their roles change with age?
Are their scores going to increase or decrease this year as a result of either age or change in role and/or position? And finally, if you had to have one who would it be?

Personally I think its time to move on tot he next era of gun forwards. I haven't had Goodes or Harvey for at least the last 3 years. And last year was my last with Pav

Ive gone with Green believing he is someone who will thrive after given the captaincy

Yeah cant argue with that, I get the feeling that none of them will ever score like they used too.
I have one spot left in my forward line for a premium. Had Didak, but he has come out and said he wont be playing as much in the midfield so his scores may suffer, add that to his interupted pre season, and he doesn't look so attractive. But I am stuck as to who should replace him.

Wouldn't mind giving Rioli a shot (Next era of gun forwards), but as it stands I already have Franklin and i'm not to keen on having too many starters from 1 team in the same area.

Been having a look at some of the next generation forwards, and have been impressed with Zaharakis, Hurley, Rioli, Jurrah, Duncan, Kennedy (Both WC and Sydney), Varcoe, Lecras and Macaffer. Any you think are ready to come of age as premiums?

C Richardson pretty sure has locked up a bench spot for mine

Yup, already had him in mine. Didn't get the game here in SA, but looks like a reasonable scorer.

I'm noting how many young players there are, I've been considering Ditching Drew Petrie! I'm not sure he's going to be a 75+ player, and if not his price might only go up less than 100k.

ATM I have Sandilands and Jolly, with J Tippett(Only for trading into Fwd line) and Z Smith. in my rucks. I probably will swap tippett over.

If I get rid of Petrie, Hopefully Smith plays the season enough to rotate on the bye. Then I can free up 120K by selecting an extra rookie in the fwd line.

Currently I have Matera, Mzungu, Richardson, Prestia, Krakouer.

Any thoughts

Richardson had been in and out of my side but now think will be staying in. Be interesting to see how he goes in NAB Challenge games (is that what they are called this year!?)

I watched games today and Petrie didnt really seem to have much of a impact at all. I know this is a bit critical and harsh because as expected the "slow getting back into the swing of things" factor but I was starting to have doubts also...

Loaded up on the Forward line much!

[atm I've got Rioli in at F2. ]

I'm now back to a Green/Rioli toss up for F4 ;)

I think in order for him to be as low as F5, I had to have Foley as my M3. I've since decided that I'll need at least three premium mids to go into round one.

Current forward line: Chapman, Riewoldt, Didak, Green, Knights, Petrie, Richardson (Prestia, Matera & Smith)

If Petrie gets suspended for his bump, I am replacing him with Fevola :)

I hear Albert Proud is looking a likely sort this year as well. Quickly, pick him up as a smokey! ;)

So in my latest team rebuild I came away with Chapman, N Riewoldt, J Brown, R O'Keefe, Petrie, Krakouer, Day, Richardson, Callinan, and $307k to spare and found myself tossing up between Daniel Motlop and Jack Watts  Anyone else considering either of them? Motlop should improve significantly this year, and Jack Watts.... well, if he's ever going to show something now is the time.

I won't be too critiacl because some people seem to take it the wrong way so here goes.

In this case, Dav3, if you want a team that is different to everyone elses (eventhough you will most likely loose more often than not) than Daniel Motlop is an excellent choice.

Top and bottom ends are practically the same...a few different guys in the middle...

...I've since changed my mind, but tbh I was seriously thinking about not including Riewoldt.

(Hear me out! :D )... I think his first couple of weeks last year had almost overvalued him...
...he's never av'd over 117.1 in a season.
Sure, he scored 5 x 130+ last year, but 4 against bottom 8 teams, and surprisingly Sydney gave up the 2nd most SC points to forwards last year.

This year the Sainsts [Forwards] face the toughest schedule @ 7.66...they play a stretch of 11 games in which they face teams who last year ranked 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8 against Forwards...and a BYE...Geelong (1) first up and a BYE in Rd. 4...

...not at all pretty.

Of course, I dare say (so brave of me! :p ) that he'll confortably finish in the top 3 Forwards...but depending on how any one team is structured, with so many F/M's available there could be a couple of Mids around his price that could well have him covered...

Anyway, this is all a bit moot now since he does look better in my team that out of it...
...just don't think he's the amazing "lock" that some (most?) seem to consider him.

[Speaking of most/locks...No Krakouer up forward for you? ]

Can I ask why? And who would you consider at around that price.

forwards: chapman, franklin, nriewoldt, pavlich, morton, mzungu, callinan (richardson, matera, 10th forward-currently Steve Motlop but still doing research)

Could possibly downgrade Pavlich to Varcoe, leaving me with 2 cats, and upgrade Motlop to Krakouer.

Varcoe/Krakouer vs Pavlich/rookie forward?

They are past their prime, they will still have their good days but over the last couple of years they have also put in some shockers. All 3 are playing different positions than they were when they were scoring their best also.

I'd look more in the Sylvia/Rioli area.

.

Yeah, not convinced about that...

...Goodes had his 3rd best DT year in 2010 (pretty much right on his av. disposals/game), just a terrible 0.99 DT/SC ratio, which was well down from his average. I had him for most of last year and remember constantly being frustrated by his crappy skills...and mostly simple stuff like set shots for goal.
Actually kicked 44 goals (his most), but 41 behinds...a better conversion rate and I don't see why he wouldn't be able to get back to some decent SC scoring...
[He av'd 117.75 over his last 8 games too btw. ;) ]

Harvey's in the same boat, imo. 94.5 DT last year...95.9 best ever 2007...94.6 2008...in fact, most av. disposals last year for his career.
His SC scoring has been a bit up and down over the last 6 years;
85.7/109.3 followed by 92.6/100.5 in 05/06...a couple of 95/110's...

...can't see too many reasons why he wouldn't av. somewhere between 100-110 again this year.
