Re: 2011 SC Forwards Discussion Thread

will Fev be fight to go round one?

he should be bottom price but dose his therapy get in the way?

Unlikely at this stage. I wouldn't touch him until I see him in the team sheet. If he comes back on to the list there's every chance he's coming back through the seconds to get match fitness back.

Any1 looking at picking up young Jack Riewoldt?

Tigers on the up, improved delivery into the forward line, likely to win more games this year. Outstanding 2010 and more then capable of backing it up this season. Unique.

I don't usually pick players the year after their first breakout season. Rarely much upside there, and not a 'proven' performer. Medium risk, low return.

Re: 2011 SC Forwards Discussion Thread

Lewis Johnston would get my pick for a bench spot. Make or break year for him at the Swans really, by all reports a very talented player, will get games this year i think.

Re: 2011 SC Forwards Discussion Thread

Who is Calinan?

i expect Kennedy to be up and about this year, tho not a premium might be woth a look. Darling may impress during pre season cup so keep an eye on him.
:thumbsu:

28yr old rookie from SANFL. Small nuggety crumbing forward. Already has the body to cope with AFl and knows where the goals are. Will skirt the packs and at the feet of Tippett/Walker.

BTW other Crows to keep in mind:

Tippett - hugely dissapointing last year yet still kicked 46 goals. has been working hard on his goal kicking. I expect him to have a huge season.

Knights - injury ruined 2010. He's a class player on the HFF.

Walker - has improved his fitness and is a natural footballer. Should get a whole season in before GWS come sniffing (if they haven't already)

Would be good to have threads like this in each position but for under 200K only. Or are we over moderated here?

^ This 100%.
Even if he can maintain the form he showed last year, I veiw him as a Fevola type player (Not last year, but a few years ago when he was coleman medalist). He relies very much on his team to give him the ball, when they deliver so will he, but I get the feeling that there will be game where he goes missing becuase the supply drops and doesnt really move up the ground like Brown, or his cousin and win the ball out of the 50. he will have games when he dominates but will also have games when he will have very little impact.

Also remember opposition teams wont give him as much space as they have now he is a genuine scoring threat.

I've managed:

N.Riewoldt
Franklin
Pavlich
J.Brown
Sylvia
Waite
C.Dixon
___

Isaac Smith
Lamb
Ben Johnson (Geelong)

Rookies will no doubt change, but i'm very happy with my top 6.

Have to wait and see on JB. Sylvia looks set every year. Pav? Not compelling

Gotta think Petrie will be popular. and Krak

compare this post to your final setup and be amazed. Not a criticism, just SC reality

Re: 2011 SC Forwards Discussion Thread

Patrick Dangerfield; how do you all think he will go in 2011? He has bags of potential, but he is pretty expensive at 340k. Although, will he start fulfulling some of that potential and get some big scores this season?

Re: 2011 SC Forwards Discussion Thread

Danger is too awkwardly priced for me. He'll break out eventually but It's to hard to predict when because he's been spending so much time up forward.

Watch his NAB and look at his position, TOG etc and make your call.

What are peoples thoughts on Wright from North at 263k?

Played very well towards the end of last year as a high half forward kicking goals and racking up 20+ possessions.

What do you think?

JB is reliable though. So long as he doesn't get injured he'll average 100 easy. Sylvia imo could explode this year. Averaged 88 in last season...And Pavlich is a gun haha. How could you possibly be questioning his capabilities?

Got Petrie in the ruck.

Barring injuries don't think it will change a hell of a lot.

Sylvia is going to explode every year - not exactly a giveaway price.

JB is reliable when he is not out for 8 weeks at a time... let's see how his summer of no running and surgeries has treated him before settling on him 2 days after the prices are issued

Pav? Well, 30 this year, scores of 41, 57, 64 and 71 last year - he's not a lock. Fine player, but going up much? I doubt it

To each his own

Re: 2011 SC Forwards Discussion Thread

I think Koschitzke could be a decent cheapy. Costs 268 after carrying an injury most of last year. Will get some more time in the ruck this year, and usually when he goes into the ruck he fires for the rest of the game. Don't worry about any bias. I've been calling for his head for the last couple of years.

I don't think anyone will ever be able to convince me to select Kosi in my team. (Mind you I also thought the same about Kepler Bradley before last season and look what happened...)

But you do make a good point. Guess he's one where if you pick him you've got to be ready to ride both the highs and the lows.
