Re: 2011 SC Forwards Discussion Thread

Can't decide between sam Gilbert and Waite...

Re: 2011 SC Forwards Discussion Thread

What are the Pros and Cons over Paul Chapman?

Pro's are he's a gun, scores big and consistently.

Cons are that he has a previous history of hammies (byes should help) and that fact that I will probably pick him, thus ensuring he will underperform for 6 weeks then do his Achilles while tying his shoelaces.

I actually see the absence of ablett being a plus for Bunnings, Bartel, Chapman etc, in SC at least

Personally I'm not sure how the absence of ablett will effect sales at Bunnings Warehouse

Matthew Pavlich anyone

Seems to score much better when used as a Fwd rather than a Mid ... I would therefore feel more comfortable selecting him from the start if Barlow was fully recovered (which he isn't quite yet). The other query (as with so many other premiums like Chapman and Enright) is his age - 30 isn't that old ... but 27 is better :)

Dangerfield is putting in some nice scores. was considering him before, now i'm really going to have to put the thinking cap on as i am premium/rookie all the way. he has an awkward price tag.

Was probably Adelaides best player last night, racked up the touches in the first game, would be a good pick up if your after a mid priced player. I would expect his price to rise above 340k this year. He is young and only going to improve. Kinda like a young version of Roo :thumbsu:

S Mckernan anyone?

Definately caught some eyes last night. Been in the system a few years now, but it usually takes KPP a few years to develop into quality players so this could be his year.

If he turns out to be half the player his big bro is, then he will kill it.

probably won't increase much in value though.

He is only worth 110K, all he has to do is play and his price will double at least. And if he plays close to what he did in the NAB cup it could be more.

How does everyone think varcoe will go this year? He's in my team atm as a roughy. Is this.a potentially smart move or completely stupid. He had his best season last year.and with the absence of ablett, he says he wants more of a midfield role. Selwood/chappy/bartel should take the tags and hopefully let varcoe run free. I also know he's recovered well from his international rules injury. What does everyone think?

l think varcoe might have a bit of a slow start to the season his price will drop a bit and then maybe get on him.with this new super sub rule more players will be having a crack though the middle.

I know what you mean, But I think he will struggle to go over 180k. Just don't think he will score much over 40 per game. I reckon he will take a while to value up. He's not a sure bet for round One. and I think there are better options available.

True, definately better options out there. But I think if he can get on the park consistently and get his confidence up, he is a quality player with a good body who could suprise some people. Looked the most dangerous forward for Adelaide by a long shot.

Yep - but be careful of placing too much credence in the preseason ... He is the versatile type of player who is likely to be used as a Sub and Neil Craig has already mentioned him in this capacity in a preseason interview - I'd probs give him another year or two ...

Na, French?? i like his work.

Umm - were you asking if I WANT "French" or GIVE it ...
]
I like his work too ... there was an old Japanese Kurasawa movie where the main guy would yell, "TenDAI MUZUNgu" with his sword raised before rushing in to battle ... they've made it into a Manga now I think ...

haha, cant argue with that, we all remember Tamblings first appearance in pre season all that time ago, thought he was going to tear it up. Soooooo wrong. Hopefully not the case with Shaun Mckernan seeing he has been in the system for a few years. You right with the sub issue, he will have to earn his spot in the starting 23. He isn't in my side yet, but I will be keeping an eye on him.

I've got 380k for another fwd. Anyone thinking about j Brennan? Or should I stick with zaharakis?

Brennan has the X factor, and ability to score well. But has proven to be very inconsistent over the years. I think Dangerfield is a good option for 340K, as this looks to be his year.
