Haha. I wouldn't look into Sheahan's opinion too much mate ;):thumbsu:

Neither would I, but Prestia has been dropped for the last two weekends when you'd think GC would be focusing on playing as close to their best team as possible. It's not likely there hasn't been spots available either, given most of their experienced recruits only played two games tops. If I had Prestia I'd be very nervous going into Week 2, unless I was committed enough to decide to hold him until he gets a game.

Anyone have any thoughts on Thomas Schneider from the Hawks? He looked pretty good in the NAB cup but just unsure if he'll be able to push into the side given all the talent playing in a similar position...

Will not play this year, unless we have a huge amount of injuries which at this stage we don't.

I know what you mean. He was a favourite GC rookie of mine, massive write up pre draft, big bodied should play straight away, compared to Chapman. Can run through the midfield all day and was named in SC as a forward! Perfect.

But not playing the last 2 NAB games and no injury reports has me stumped. The worst part is everyone is picking blind with GC on the opening lockout.

Ditto, he solved a few potential problems for me, thought his NAB cup form was solid enough, quite puzzling.

I thought there'd be some good pickings in the GC forward line, but it raises more questions than answers even at this late stage. Could just see myself picking Dixon purely for safety and then Nablett kicks 15 at the lower level, while Rory Thompson or someone else currently off the radar or thought of as a budding key defender is killing it at CHF. ;)

Brent Harvey anyone?

Mark LeCras as a bit of a bolter anyone?

Have heard a little about a move into the midfield and looked good pre season but up and down scores last year are a fair worry.

Would ere on the side of caution when looking at players from bottom teams. Unlikely he will be a high scorer this year, when WC get into winning form, he will explode but until then, he doesn't have the players around him to free him up.

Common misconception. Played 65/66 games from 2007-2009.

Missed... about 6 last year? Due to one (poorly managed) injury. Should be fine this year.

I Stand corrected.

Can you elaborate on 'should be fine'? Has he had any preseason? Was the story with his injuries from last year?

Well, he's said it himself "I'll be 100%" (come round 1)... though that's coming from him, and he does tend to take the field 100% or not so...

The only thing holding him back in the last month or so, as far as I know, is the knee infection... hardly seems like something that'll cause his body trouble during the year.

Also, he's gone through plenty of pre-seasons without featuring in the NAB cup. Last year he hit round 1 at peak form.. not a great idea. This year hopefully he'll start warm and heat up as the season goes.

As long as we don't play him through any sort of injury, my guess is he will play the majority of games this year.

I have heard from the rumour mill that Isaac Smith might not get a gig round 1 and i want to make sure i have all players scoring. could force me to make unwanted trades, especially if Krakouer goes down...

FWD:N.Rievoldting, L.Franklin, A.Goodes, N.Fyfe, C.Yarran, A.Krakargghh, S.Mckernan
INT: C.Dixon, C.Richardson, I.Smith

I have roughly $50k in the back so i could replace him with someone who is $160,000 or less but no ones really strikes me as a cash cow or a regular starter...

Any ideas based on pres season form?

Would Darling, Tapscott, Skinner, Smedts or Menegola be a better pick than Smith or should i wait and see round 1 team selections.

Darling is perhaps the pick of them at this stage. Looks like a reasonable chance to debut round 1. I wouldn't be as confident in the others getting early games.

Worth waiting to see just to make sure you aren't caught short although make sure you have done the research beforehand.

I made the mistake last year of putting too many rd 1 rookies in who didn;t play that many games and ignoring the guys who came into teams in later rds and got consistent games from then on.

After some further tinkering, my current forward line looks like this:

N. Riewoldt, Franklin, Didak, Goodes, Yarran, Krakouer, Knights, Richardson, Matera, Darling.

Just can't pick Chapman on the pre-season he's had. Tempted with Stevie J as well, seeing he's getting a lot more time in the middle and still kicking bags, but don't like picking too many Geelong players, if I can avoid it. Just got rid of Prestia as well, to bring in Yarran...he looks like the real deal this year and definitely could turn into a keeper.

Still got 120k to splash around, but I like the look of my forwardline at the moment. Will probably either hang on to the money, or spend it elsewhere.

any danger in having krakouer and didak

A bit, I suppose...maybe Chappy will end up getting a spot in my team. If you can spread them out and have one in the midfield, it would be better, but I (and most others I assume) have another Collingwood player in the midfield, so it makes no difference. Just got to hope...most people will be in the same boat, or have a similar dilemma with Gold Coast players on various lines.

Need help thoughts/changes

N. Riewoldt, L. Franklin, J. Brown, C. Rioli, S. Higgins, C. Yarran, A. Krakouer

Subs: C. Richardson, Z. Skinners, J. Darling
