I'm not sure what your definition of a premium is but for me in the mids they need to average close to or above 110ppg. So if you're truly going for a rookie/premium approcah I'd pick a rookie and upgrade another position to a premium player, because at or around $400k for a midfielder is really just a mid pricer that won't be worth keeping by the end of the comp.

Well, I would like to have one last 'mid pricer then, currently have $488,600 left to buy one last midfielder..

Why would no one suggest the premium/rookie approach? (like I said, I have about 4 recovering injured players I am taking the risks on, but other than those, I am happy with [most of] my premiums).

Burgoyne, Cooney, Boak, I don't know, they're probably your best options for around $480k, but personally I still would rather someone over $500k. Surely there's someone you can downgrade or swap around to free up $10k to get someone like Bartel?

Can't find an extra 9k to get Bartel in there?

Chapman, Montagna, Murphy, Pendlebury, Swallow, Harris EMG: Atley, Hibberd, Pittard.

Thoughts ??

I woudlnt have chapman, he's got an injury cloud hanging over him and hasn't had a great pre-season and I definetly wouldn't have him in the mids. Put him up forward. If that's swallow from GC you're also taking a risk having two GC players in your mids.

I agree with the Chapman comments but RE: 2 Gold Coast rookies i see no issue at all with this. we will see the other 16 team sheets prior to lockout so coverage shouldn't be an issue.

Whats everyone's thoughts on Priddis? Due to the dogs st kilda bye I recently traded montagna for him (leaving boyd) The other bonus with him is the eagles dont have a bye in the finals unlike geelong, north, essednon and carlton.

He'll probably end up being one of those players who does well, but not well enough. He also occasionally gets very low scores so perhaps if you really want him you could wait for one of those weeks and trade him in?

Yeah I know about his low scores and to be honest I'm not really keen on him, I just want to avoid too much bye grief. I might just have to pick my best side and use up an extra trade or two when those rounds come along.

I think he's in the backs and I wouldn't go near him

He would be very unique, but given he plays in a bottom side the potential for some shocking scores looms. He will always get plenty of the ball, and if he can fix up his disposal he would be alot better, but he has the ability to go missing, and given the calibre of mids available at his price you would be wise to look esle where.

Travis Boak?
Gun, was only 21 last season and averaged a few points under 100, should only get better. Can score you some big 150s too which can be a game breakker in the league. No bye till round 12 or 13.

Thoughts on Simon Buckley on the bench? Averaged 75 odd in the preseason comp including the stupid 20/20 games. Gives us an MPP Link, in a strong side and at 23 you think they would have delisted him if he wasn't there abouts?

Buckley is a depth player. His major issue is his decision making under pressure. If he can overcome that he could get a few games, but at this rate he's certainly not a regular. And don't forget Collingwood delisted about 10 players last year.

Who is everybody's pick as the best midfielder this year overall? Price a non-factor.

A lot of people are obviously shying away from Ablett because of his new team/lack of blocking/etc, and Swan too due to the new interchange rules reflecting his play style.

If you had to pick any midfielder, who would it be?
