Where is Paul Johnson - ex demon now hawk??? cant find him anywhere???

Only just made it on to the Hawks' rookie list yesterday. Give the SC gods some time. I assume he'll be in the system before Round 1.

At the moment I'm doing a two GC bench, similar to the all Sydney ruck combo that people tried a couple of years ago (and worked quite well) of Jolly and two of Currie, White and Pyke. I've got Fraser and Smith, figuring that when Fraser gets injured Smith will take over the #1 ruck spot.

Im thinking about doing this also. Is $350k too much to have sitting on the ruck bench??

You're going to need to play your third ruck at least four times (byes for your top two ruckmen). Given a bad ruckman can score less than 50 and Fraser would probably be looking at 70+, it's about $250k for 40+ points. Obviously that's overpaying but I'm paying for peace of mind - Fraser's not going to get dropped, and if he's injured chances are Smith will be taking up his points.

Are you concerned about him missing 2/3 of the opening games? He could be traded in at the beginning of Round 5 without loosing any money and might be a good downgrade for one of the risky forwards that people tend to have been taking i.e Sylvia, Yarran, Krakour, Knights, Higgins, Stevie J if one of them don't work out.

it's also one wasted trade which you kick yourself at the end of the season for. Plenty of room on the bench, He is a nice cheap option to select a better team for round 1

There are a couple more trades available this year though.
Some players who managed their trades well in previous years may find that they have more than they need.

I think those extra trades are for the last 4 rounds and that's it.

If you have those trades up your sleeve and your team is set, you can trade out premiums who have the byes in the last few rounds. Especially Essendon players come round 22

I would say more people will b worried about Carlton and Geelong final byes. I know I am :p

I haven't heard anything about Robert Campbell. Would he be 2nd in line behind Jamar at the Demons? Is he likely to get a game?

(Nevermind, i see he's still rookie-listed)

No doubt.

A little bit of risk involved in getting rid of players that will be very helpful in the latter rounds though.

My Geelong/Carlton players are Selwood, Enright, Judd, Gibbs.

If you have 4 trades left for R22 to R24 you could go:

Selwood/Enright to Cross/Lake, then Judd/Gibbs to Selwood/Enright or something to that extent.

If your looking for a 4th ruck, look at Redden from Port. hearing a bit of chat he could play a few games this year with Brogan resting fwd.

If charman can get himself right and campbell starts playing as well, could have a couple of options in the ruck department as far as downgrade targets go.

Do we know how much Tapscott of Melbourne is likely to play?

Probably not much in the ruck. :D

Seems a promising selection for Round 1, but after that it depends on his form which has been solid without being spectacular in the preseason.

Derricxzcxzdsvz still in the mix for the Tigers?

I think he'll be a "wait until the team names and see". On the plus side, you just gave me the perfect word to play in Scrabble. :D

Leuenberger

Anyone looking at leuenberger for their second Ruck.

I currently have the set and forget duo of Sandi and Cox with Petrie as back up mpp but have been looking at big Leuenberger. With Fev gone and Mitch Clark likely to play forward mostly he maybe a good proposition this year. His stats last year were okay although slightly inconsistent but improving. Despite suffering major cramps in challenge match he still did okay with 89 points. (although against GC I think)

Anyway would save $100K on Cox so could be tempting.

Any thoughts?
