i went with the sandilands, jamar, smith and bailey. i thought about cox but was concerned with his ability to play all 22 rounds. i thought about hale for mpp but figured he'd only average 50-60 and was tight on cash. thought about jolly as well but was concerned he would be a slow starter. when in doubt i went with the two previous all-australians. took a chance with bailey and he will hopefully average similar to hale. heard bailey got through the vfl ok which is good news. every year i seem to get burnt in the ruck department.

I went with Clark, Warnock, Petrie, Smith.

Happy with the Warnock selection, surprised more didn't pick him up. The jury is still out on Clark.

Went with Jolly, Cox, Smith, Derickx. Hopefully vickery gets injured and jolly can chip in with some 80's.

rucks have scored very well this round.

don't know SC scores but three ruckmen have topped 90 in DT in the dogs-bombers game.

wonder what the record for most amount of rucks 90+ in a week is?? already 10 so far this round - that would surely be pretty high up on the leader board...

and big chance 2 of cox, naitanui, goldstein will get there (all three not out of the question but pretty unlikely).

they reduced the points lost for a free against and the most free's for and against involve ruckmen so that could be having some sort of impact. wouldn't have thought this particular adjustment would change much more than maybe 3 to 4 points a game though....

been some pretty scrappy games so lots of balls up i would imagine...

Has the new points system had much of an impact?

One thing that I assume has made a difference is the sub rule with alot of rucks spending more time on the ground resting in the forward line.

For the last time now as alluded to many times pre season...set and forget the Ruck combination

Sandi~Cox~Petri~Smith was the biggest no brainer combination for the season of all time

This thread happens every year..last year it was members saying Sandi was too expensive

Next year remember set and forget :)

Hmm maybe, time will tell.

Last year was a bloodbath though. Fair enough, no excuse for bypassing Sandilands. But think back to this time in 2010. The fancied second ruckmen were all having stinkers: Tippett, Cox, Jolly, Clark, Hille, Ryder, Naitanui (actually he did start ok)...I had Cox and I simply had to trade him after about four rounds. Of course, he came good, but you can only put up with a ruckman averaging 50-something for so long. Seaby started really well and many people would have traded for him, but he got injured very early on and then before he knew it he was behind Mummy and Pyke. From memory, Kreuzer was about the only other premium ruckman who repaid the faith during the first half of the season (and then of course, he did his knee).

Don't forget Gus Graham's 95 Spud, good effort considering the big hits he took through the game. Deserves to be included at his price. ;)

I agree.

Don't know why I didn't include him. I think I may've started off only wanting to include 100+ scores, then changed my mind half way through, after I'd seen the Rich/Carl scores.

Lleunberger did OK and for anyone who went with Clarke, Lleunberger was always going to steal some of his thunder. As it turned out he stole all of it. Which is a classic reason why you need to look at what's happening and not just what has happened before.

Went Ryder and Mumford in the end. Had Ryder and Cox for a long time...

Will be interesting to see how it stacks up to Sandi/Cox in round two.

I want cox, but I'm going to have to make 2 trades to get him to free up some cash... I have Jamar who scored ok but Cox i have to have.
Thoughts?

You're a few days to late.

I wouldn't worry about the sideways trade, especially if it costs you two trades.

As good as Cox is he will most likely not get near that score again this year - North went in without a ruckman.

Cox did very well but he was the only ruckman on the ground. No NicNat and wasn't up against a ruckman from North either. Yes he is fit and doing well but I wouldn't be expecting Sandilands like scores from him every week.
