Re: Official SC 2010 Trading Thread

That is one of the worst trades ever. Not that I would have picked R.Shaw at 500K anyway, but to pick someone at 500K you were thinking he was a keeper, and to sideways trade like that is ridiculous. HAHA. I would have gone Broughton if I wasted a trade. He will score higher when the Dockers get smashed. Seriously the only trades I am pondering and I think everyone should be are rookie trades. You need to make money for the future trades. I seriously am contemplating Gumby for another rook. I don't want to be stuck with a spud who takes 10 weeks to max out, and who's to say he is going to make you heaps anyway. So many teams have Gumby and trading him out and burning one could be the difference at the end of the year. Just my opinion. I'm going to wait till teams come out and decide on who the best forward might be that's named. At this stage I think it's Hitchcock just for the score he spat out and for his job security. It's not a definite, it's just my thoughts at the moment.

Interesting one Gumbleton. I have him on the bench also and will monitor his form and fitness again this week. I may hold onto him and forget about his ability to make me cash and have him there for back up purposes only to cover for 0's similar to Mitch Brown last year. I reckon i have enough good cash cows in other positions to finance the upgrades I will need. Its a worry though because on that form he may not be a certain starter for the Dons every game anyway, and to think he will get through the year injury free may be a tad optimistic!

Not to mention that it was done on a Tuesday night. Breaks the first rule of trading.

Re: Official SC 2010 Trading Thread

Ive got both Gumby and Roberts on my bench, but won't get rid of them this week. Come next week I will see how they are both travelling compared to Hitchcock and Peterson and possibly make 1 or 2 trades if there is a huge difference in average. Rockliff's performance (if he plays) will also factor into my decision. If he plays as well as his pre-season, I will be able to get 1 price rise out of one of my current bench players before bringing him in instead of one of hitchcock/peterson.

All this talk about trading premiums at this stage is ridiculous. Harry O'Brien could come out and score 40 next week, while the guy you traded out might get 100+. Then you will be worse off than when you started both in points and in price-rises.

The round 1 score counts towards only 1 price rise (usig rolling average of rounds 1, 2 & 3), while the round 2 score counts towards 2 price rises (using rolling average of rounds 1, 2 & 3 and then rounds 2, 3 & 4).

Re: Official SC 2010 Trading Thread

Me thinks I may as well shift Gray off to someone else. If I have to wait 2, maybe 3 more weeks for him, I don't think it's worth it when I could have a Shannon Byrnes, Daniel Giansiracusa, Jarrad Waite or Eddie Betts

http://www.afl.com.au/news/newsarticle/tabid/208/newsid/91332/default.aspx

Who, though, is the big question. I don't wanna waste trades, but there's other options, and the man's dead weight. Does anyone know a good player to trade too?

I can afford anything cheaper than Giansiracusa. I'm thinking of giving another week to Hitchcock just to see where players are at, but I'd like decent scores for the 450k I spent on Gray. I don't wanna waste trades, but I do think this warrants one.

At the moment, i'm really not sure what to do with him. I'd go with Eddie Betts, but i'll see how they all do after Round 2.

Waite started back with a 95, everybody thought he would take a while to build up to some decent scores, but didn't look as though the knee bothered him at all.. He was a little rusty, which makes his 95 even more impressive, even though it was against Richmond. I think he will have a better improvement % than Byrnes or Gia.

I would Go Waite, and pocket the $42K to use later on..

Hearing now Waite will play on Fev, which, surely, isn't good for his scoring. I might as well go with Hitchcock if that was to happen.

Rob Murphy is actually sounding good to me now. 130 against a team that destroyed the Dogs, and his next 2 are Richmond and the Hawks. Injury's always a concern though.

Possible replacements:

Byrnes
Gia
Waite
Betts
Murphy

Thoughts?

Re: Official SC 2010 Trading Thread

Why would you trade out Dangerfield (93@333K) or Ziebell (110@321K) ???

Maybe I'm misinterpreting what you are saying but you didn't provide much information

Re: Official SC 2010 Trading Thread

If you have sufficient cover I think the best thing would be to wait another week and see what happens with Gray. He may come back next week still. And it also gives you another look at his replacement if he doesn't get named Rd 3. If you must make a decision out of those 2 this week, couldn't say which as I'd imagine they will both average around 85-90. Also look at Robert Murphy. He pumped out a lazy 130 in a losing side against the Pies and is only 353K. Having said that he can be injury prone, but he's a GUN when fit. Think they are all good choices. I have them all

Re: Official SC 2010 Trading Thread

I'm not worried. I'm just thinking you broke the cardinal sin...trading before teams come out. What do you do now if Franklin breaks his leg at training??? Don't say it can't happen. Last year a bloke I work with traded in Hurley on Monday after he scored roughly 90 in rd 1, only for him to get injured on the Tuesday or something, which forced him to trade out Hurley again later that week. It was a pisser, I did not feel one bit of sympathy for him, as he broke the number 1 rule of SC. By the way I don't want Franklin to break his leg as I'm a Hawks supporter...but never say never...

Trade more, people TRADE MORE!

The early bird catches the worm! Get in there and make those moves ASAP, before someone else does!

Hahaha.
This, I give up.

Re: Official SC 2010 Trading Thread

I traded out Brad Johnson for Franklin a couple of seasons ago and it was on Sunday night when it re-opened at 12:00am or whatever it was.

I remember posting it on here and boy did I get alot of replies! LOL! :p

Those days of trading dangerously are over for me now, was a rookie year Judd_Magic 101 noob mistake. :D:thumbsu:

Re: Official SC 2010 Trading Thread

Im in the same boat as many around here, will trade Gray out this week but who for?

Obvious choices: Zibell or Dangerfield???????????????

or even Bob Murphy... ive already got Hall and Gia, do people think having 3 dogs across one line is too much?

Jammo will play on Fev, no matter what the AFL think. But Bower might be out, in which case Waite might have to play a defensive role.

After round 1 i like the look of Betts. Will get plenty of ball in the Blues forwardline this year, although i have Gia & Ziebs out of the above list.

If you don't have Franklin...

If you do, Betts and Byrnes look the best choices at the moment. Not sold on the upside of Gia, Higgins looks to have lowish upside and is injury prone, Waite's role is unknown I think, and I don't think ZIebell is suitable, because he's still young, where as Gray is semi-premium, and you should be looking to trade with that price bracket, or at least I would be...
