Guys....Round 1 is complete and your squads are locked, but trading is the most important part of the game SO...Welcome to the "Official 2010 SuperCoach Trading" thread. This is here to discuss all things trading. What trades are you thinking of making??? What trades have you made??? Get advice from fellow BF posters before you make those 20 crucial decisions.

So with that i'll get the ball rolling. Obviously it is important to pick the right rookies and I have probably made a mistake by choosing Scott Gumbleton. I thought Gumby would become a good cow because hey, he played some NAB challenge games, scored reasonably well, and his body seems to be the best it has been since he was taken at pick 2. Boy, did I get it wrong! He scored 18, and although Gumby is probably a lock in Essendon's side, he probably won't be in mine. I should get some cover in the coming weeks from Tom Rockliff who is next in line at Brisbane. But I selected Gumby to make me some $$$ and i'm really disappointed and can see scores like this being a frequent occurence.
At this stage I am thinking of using 3 trades in the first 2 weeks, just to shore up my rooks, because they are there to make the $$$. I know trade talk this early is dangerous, but after my side threw out a 2394 in Round 1, there really isn't too much wrong with it at the moment. If I don't move on Gumby by Round 2 lockout, I'm stuck with him unfortunately:eek:, because I plan on using 2 trades next week, but can afford another week of watching to see what's best with those.
At this stage I think Gumby for either Hitchcock, who threw out a reasonable 75 in wet conditions at AAMI, but tired as the game wore on, or Carl Peterson, who was very lively at the MCG on Saturday and scored 71. Hitchcock just seems a safer bet as, although Peterson did nothing wrong, there are a fair few Hawks missing at the moment and when they return his job security may be under threat.

So what's the general concencus guys??? Please tell me Gumby just had an off night:rolleyes:

Re: Official SC 2010 Trading Thread

Not pressing the button on Gumby just yet. The kid has missed a heap of footy and was up againist one of the best backlines we've seen. Although his direct opponent was Lonergan, he seem to lead under the ball on a lot of occasions and just didn't have the one grab hands that you need at the top level. Knights will give him plenty of time to find his feet and can see him with an 50 - 60 average, not super but enough for cash cow purposes anyway.

Re: Official SC 2010 Trading Thread

Gumby ws a Number 2 Draft Pick. The reason people picked him was the reasoning that he's a rookie almost guaranteed 22.

He'll improve, I think he'll need time to warm to senior footy again though.

My personal problem is that I don't know what to do with Kurt Tippett. If Kreuzer pulls out another good week, I think an early trade could be the way to go.

Re: Official SC 2010 Trading Thread

Actually...

Take a look at this, it's worrying me. I think I'll cop a week on the chin though.

Herald Sun said:
Kennelly was still very sore at Sydney's recovery yesterday, with headaches and nausea from a hit that will be scrutinised by the AFL match review committee.

"I'm sore all over ... I've got a big lump on my head," said Kennelly, who vomited after the game and is in doubt to play Adelaide on Sunday.

Re: Official SC 2010 Trading Thread

I think that's a bit of a waste Thomas. Try not to trade your premiums/potentials. Yes Kreuzer far outscored Tippett but it's very sideways. I mean Kreuzer far outscored Mitch Clark too, but I have not one thought about trading him. I'm disappointed but you pay for what you get. Tippett will bounce back. Correct me if I'm wrong, as it's only heresay, but did Tippett ruck a fair bit??? He will score most as a forward...and he kicked 1.4, if it's 4.1 he maybe scores 80

I know, I considered this a lot. Ruck? Hmmm, well, I was watching the game, but I can't remember. He probably was, considering the ball wasn't going forward.

My thinking on things was that I could make a heap of coin I could use later, but I'll see how they both go next game. This seems sort of drastic, and I'll think it out a lot. Probably won't, but consideration.

Re: Official SC 2010 Trading Thread

I hate to waste early season trades but ai think it's clear that the top sides this year will have Swan and Ablett and I only see Swans price going up. So what are you thoughts on this trade:

Out: Pendles & Gilbee
In: Swan & O'Brien or Kennelly

Back line is Goddard, Hodge, Shaw, Enright, Gilbee, Waters, Malceski

Mids are Ablett, Bartel, Pendles, Barlow, Shuey, Martin

First round score: 2388

Thoughts?

Re: Official SC 2010 Trading Thread

I wouldn't do it. As good as Swan is, wait and watch Pendles this week. Be surprised at another sub 100 score and Collingwood play Melbourne. You can still do it next week if things don't go according to plan

I think it's terrible.

You selected Pendlebury as a keeper. He may yet be the best scoring player all year, who knows? At the very worst, he will be a 'good' scorer.

Gilbee you picked because he was below the odds for his ability and previous scores. There was a little bit of risk attached with him, but as such you got him at a discounted price. You cannot complain if he doesn't fire in a given match - he won't every game.

And you want to trade in two very similar players? Waste two trades on what could be a net loss situation? My goodness. Treat trades like gold dust.

Re: Official SC 2010 Trading Thread

Jinny, I understand at this stage of the year why you would sideways trade a rookie, however I don't inderstand why you would downgrade Tippett. Read post #5

Re: Official SC 2010 Trading Thread

From Lewis Jetta to Banner or Shuey?

AND Tippett to Ziebell or dangerfield?
As mentioned above, you shouldn't be downgrading someone of that price this early.

As for you first trade, if you decided you really had to trade Lewis Jetta, i'd probably go Shuey.

Re: Official SC 2010 Trading Thread

My word of advice, no one should be making trades after Round 1, even if there is a lot term injury.

If you jump the gun you will be sorry, espically if you are going for league win, not overall.

Re: Official SC 2010 Trading Thread

I urge you all to trade trade TRADE. There will not be another opportunity like this.

Sell Sandilands, he's peaked.

Drop Barlow. You KNOW he can't keep this pace up.

If Kennelly misses a week GET RID OF HIM.

Hodge showed why he was so cheap... dump him.

One guy I'd recommend you grab, though, is Drew Petrie. Looks fresh as a daisy and has ruck-forward MPP!

Thats a stupid thing to do. Worst bit of advice ever posted on BF. I think a long term Injury is a good enough reason to trade off. So what are you ment to do cop a doughnut for 6 weeks then trade off for the same result. (It might be worse to hold on to him because the person who you want to trade of for could go up in value. This = Net Loss.)

Re: Official SC 2010 Trading Thread

Barring a LTI, I don't understand why you would want to trade after Round 1. Prices won't change until after Round 3, so you might as well wait and see this week whether the dud rookie you're thinking of trading out (e.g. Trengove) comes good or whether any players you are thinking of bringing in can put two good games together. If you need to adjust after Round 2, then by all means do it.

Then again, everyone can manage their team how they like. There's not necessarily one right way to do things, just as there's more than one way to structure your team initially and be successful.

Re: Official SC 2010 Trading Thread

I personally won't be making a trade in the first week.

But to anyone who is considering it. Wait for Team sheets, and trade as late as possible if you do.

Re: Official SC 2010 Trading Thread

Palmer out :p Barlow in.

Now got 250 000, will upgrade Hille should he get suspended. Will keep Gumby.
