Re: Official SC 2010 Trading Thread

Good point Rhino. When I started the thread I was thinking I had to rush the Gumby trade, but maybe it's just that it might take a bit longer to upgrade him. The other point is missing the $$$ that trading in Hitchcock could bring to my side for a quicker future upgrade to a premium. Have to weigh up whether that is equal to a trade. Probably not, but it's a rookie trade. I don't see that being the worst type of trade. People will trade premiums sideways which is quite perplexing

Re: Official SC 2010 Trading Thread

Masten for Mcveigh?
Jetta for Banner?
Wil consider those before price changes.

Re: Official SC 2010 Trading Thread

I urge you all to trade trade TRADE. There will not be another opportunity like this.

Sell Sandilands, he's peaked.

Drop Barlow. You KNOW he can't keep this pace up.

If Kennelly misses a week GET RID OF HIM.

Hodge showed why he was so cheap... dump him.

One guy I'd recommend you grab, though, is Drew Petrie. Looks fresh as a daisy and has ruck-forward MPP!

Excellent advice! Who do you suggest I replace Hodge with? What do you think of Andy Otten? He looked the goods last year so surely he'll only get better this year.

Re: Official SC 2010 Trading Thread

Barring a LTI, I don't understand why you would want to trade after Round 1. Prices won't change until after Round 3, so you might as well wait and see this week whether the dud rookie you're thinking of trading out (e.g. Trengove) comes good or whether any players you are thinking of bringing in can put two good games together. If you need to adjust after Round 2, then by all means do it.

Then again, everyone can manage their team how they like. There's not necessarily one right way to do things, just as there's more than one way to structure your team initially and be successful.

Apart from if you cocked up your team completely and don't have 22 starting players this week, the only reason I see for trading this week is if you want to swap for some better cash cows next week and you will need to make more than two trades. I.e. you need to swap 3 rookies. Then you'll need to do one this week.

Re: Official SC 2010 Trading Thread

Call me crazy, or not.

Goodwin -> Malceski (frees up $280k!)

Tippett -> Brown

Will give all of these players another week to show their wares but eventually would have traded Tippett to Brown anyway I think. 'Brown has slow starts' my arse. And maybe:

Hall -> Murphy

Thing that pisses me off is I had all of Murphy, Brown and Malceski in my team until one last smart arse revision...

Re: Official SC 2010 Trading Thread

but im curious why shuey over banner??

also do you think hille and tippett could be a keeper?
Hadn't actually seen Banner's score yesterday, didn't realise he'd scored that much. I've heard big wraps for Shuey coming out of WCE. Either should be good picks, both win a fair bit of the ball.

As for your second question, i'm not excpecting Hille to become a keeper but hopefully he increases in value so I can upgrade him to a premium. Tippett could be pretty inconsistent, but I expect him to be bordering on being a keeper by the end of the year.

Re: Official SC 2010 Trading Thread

Leave Hall in there, i picked him as well but i knew he would not score well against Collingwood. His upcoming games are against Richmond where he will score huge and then comes up against Hawthorn again he will show he is worth the price tag.

As for Tippett his scores go from 50 one week to 150 the next you just need to enjoy the ride.

If Gia spuds it up again this week against the Tigers and can't pull at least 100 he's gettin the chop..

Re: Official SC 2010 Trading Thread

Every 1 has to remember malceski had a freak 1st qtr then the rest of his game was avg. He scored 71 in the 1st and 60 od over the next 3qtrs. He will NOT back it up this week IMO. Dont burn trades unles you 100% have to.

Who are they playing next week, Adelaide or something?

Either way, I can tell you for a fact that whoever they are playing aren't as good as the Saints (biased, but meh).

He'll be hard stretched to back up his 139, but 75+ is good, considering Mal's starting price and his breakeven (which surely can't be more than 30 or 40 in 2 weeks)

If I didn't have him, I would definately consider jumping on. Could make a lot of money.

Re: Official SC 2010 Trading Thread

I think everyone should use 2 trades this week, and 2 trades next week, BEFORE the price changes. Get rid of all your dead wood like Tippett, Goodwin, Newman, Swan, Gablett

Do it NOW, before its too late

Re: Official SC 2010 Trading Thread

Wow this guy is a ******, sorry bout what I said to TimC in my last post. Worst bit of advice ever posted on BF. All these guys are keepers and Petrie is out for 4-6 with a broken foot you d!ckhead.

Re: Official SC 2010 Trading Thread

As a Hawks fan watched Peterson carve it up in the first half at the MCG and was delighted - except for the fact that I'd been seduced by years of Sheedy and Knights talking up Gumbleton and picked him (was also considering Relton Roberts). Very tempting to trade Gumby in, but made errors in wasting trades last year (e.g. Stephen Hill for Petrenko very early, Dayne Beams for Jaxson Barham after a Barham blinder). Very costly. Gotta have patience, or at least wait one more round.

Re: Official SC 2010 Trading Thread

I am looking to keep the trades in the bag but there is 1 that is pressing on me at the moment.

I have Cotchin and if I trade him for Barlow I can get Sandilands for Tippett, should I make the trade?

If I wait I can't make any other trades next week even if I need to. (And I have the Gray/Rockliff combo up front)

If I trade I am using 2 in Rd 1

I'd seriously consider at least trading Barlow in. He could become a $111,000 keeper. I've got Tippett and Clark as my rucks. I was thinking that both had more improvement in them than Sandilands, whose price may drop at some point. I find trading decisions very difficult when you're trying to secure as many point as you can over the whole year, but also trying to win your league, where trades are like gold come finals time. How do others balance this, or is it a matter of just focusing on one or the other?

Re: Official SC 2010 Trading Thread

If you got Tippett (as I did, by the way), you need to accept his 50 and move on. He'll have 130s as well.

My belief is this year he's gonna have more big scores than small ones, but he's still going to be inconsistent. One game, in a game where Adelaide were pantsed and Tippett had a go in the ruck, doesn't undo the reasons you drafted him in the first place.

Re: Official SC 2010 Trading Thread

Will consider trading JKT for either of bannar or sheuy next week if JKT does indeed get the flick for changa this week and then also is not named for the following round. While not thrilled with trengoves score, so long as you have a couple of fast-burning cash cows, trengove is one who is likely to play all 22 games and could just be a slow burning cow who takes time to appreciate. While his score may not have been what we were hoping for, he seemed to play alright in a team that got smashed (as they will most rounds however)

Perhaps stick him on the bench and bring in one of the other higher scoring rookies this week as the dees have the pies. However, the following weeks melbourne play the crows down here, and then the tigers so at least give him a chance. We got a glimpse of how he can score in the nab, and he coule be quite a good bench player this year.

Edit: Agree on the sentiment regarding trading tippett, hille, hall and co. They were obviously picked for a reason initially, so put your faith in the research you had done and at least give them a second week. Not everyone comes out firing. Pendles 91 wasn't great, but i am sure as hell not going to trade out a keeper for another keeper. Same with kennelly and malceski, albeit both being in the 'undervalued' category instead.

Re: Official SC 2010 Trading Thread

Masten is the only one I am considering trading this early, and it won't be this week either way. May trade him out for Bastinac next week or in round 3, but plenty of time to sit and wait for now.

Re: Official SC 2010 Trading Thread

I hate to waste early season trades but ai think it's clear that the top sides this year will have Swan and Ablett and I only see Swans price going up. So what are you thoughts on this trade:

Out: Pendles & Gilbee
In: Swan & O'Brien or Kennelly

Back line is Goddard, Hodge, Shaw, Enright, Gilbee, Waters, Malceski

Mids are Ablett, Bartel, Pendles, Barlow, Shuey, Martin

First round score: 2388

Thoughts?

Very bad dude...

2 trades for maybe a slight benefit...

The only MUST trade is for those who don't have Barlow (after round 2)...this guy is an animal!!! The rest if you get a slight benefit then don't do it..

If it's a structural/format issue then maybe, but not over a few points.. Pendlebury to Swan is very bad.....

Re: Official SC 2010 Trading Thread

I'm gobsmacked at some of the posts in this thread. It's only the first week and you're already talking about trading a player cos he had one bad score...to a mid pricer who had one big score. Each to their own but man... (unless we're getting more than 20 trades this year?)
