Supercoach v Dreamteam

I'm sure most of us play one, if not both... Which one do you prefer? why?

For me, even though I rank better in SC, I rather DT, not sure really why, but I think its only because I played it first.

Dream Team. I like being able to watch a match and thinking 'oh, Swan's marked and kicked it, that's 6 points'. You can't do that for Supercoach, too many variables.

SC by miles. More accurate representation of somebody's impact on the game. Still not perfect but better than 30 kicks, 29 of which are rubbish, getting them huge points.

DT by a long way. Still play SC but couldn't really care about it at all.

I have played DT since it's first year though and had a league since day 1 with the same group of mates, which obviously counts.

DT all the way. With DT you know 100% what each action on the field translates to in points.

SC is entirely subjective: i got sick and tired of seeing HB flankers scoring 150pts each week just because they had 10 'effective' disposals. After a game you can only guess if a player has had a good game in SC. And there is no way to receive live stats.

Both have their advantages. I prefer dreamteam as you can actually see the true scores during play. With supercoach it seems rigged at times with certain players continually getting big scores when they dont seem to have an effect on a game. Play both so not too fussed but prefer dreamteam.

But what has that to do with the merits of the actual game? Sure, Supercoach has a more noble premise (rewarding quality rather than quantity), but ultimately it is unpredictable and arbitrary.

In terms of being a game that a coach can actually predict and manipulate, Dreamteam is vastly superior.

Dream Team - it's just easier to follow. Both of them are only games and I see it as irrelevant whether it truly reflects great gameplay. The fact of the matter is, both scoring systems are flawed as true rankings of player importance. They're both games though, and Dream Team is one everyone can truly understand and as such effectively strategise for.

Voted for SC - even though in recent years it has been flooded with more competitors who are basically told who to pick by superfooty without having to do old fashioned research.

I have only played dream team during the finals comp.

So biased answer?

Supercoach easily. DT is for nuff nuffs.

Rewards quality of possession. Cheap short kicks and uncontested marks in the backline are nowhere near as valuable as further upfield. Furthermore, DT rewards a player who kicks it directly to the opponent...ridiculous.

Who cares what it rewards? It's a game. Certain players are better at DT than SC and vice versa. Pick the ones you want for your DT and SC team accordingly.

But in the simplicity of DT scoring lies the capacity for the user to understand, predict, and influence their team's fortunes. In this regard Supercoach is completely arbitrary, so the fact that it endeavours to reward quality rather than quantity of possession is irrelevant.

Personally, I prefer Dream Team due to its simplicity.
But I do know that Supercoach is better for the passionate, hardcore AFL fan, and it requires more thinking, more stratergy, and is overall, a much tougher game, and is best suited to the smarter football fans.

Rubbish.

Half back flankers DOMINATE supercoach because they kick the ball long and chip it sideways. The difference between SC scores and actual player impact is often far, far greater than the DT differential.

If a player has 20 uncontested, 10m handpasses they will still score well in SC because they'll be considered 'effective'.

I was originally a SC player but got sick and tired of the points system. It's completely arbitrary.

It wouldn't suprise me if the scores were set by some guy just going 'swanny had a good game, might as well give him a 120 or so'.
