Sorry for starting a thread on your board, but I couldn't ignore the efforts of young Byron against the Pies.

It seemed like Connolly really wanted to test him out, as Schammer played the majority of the match on the ball, and despite being battered from pillar to post, stuck at the task and continued to put his head over the footy.

He's such a talent is still only 18 (?).

We keep hearing that the WA teams are making room in their salary caps to land a Western Australian at the end of the year - is their any chance you would trade Schammer in a deal involving Stenglien? Schammer is a South Australian isn't he?

Anyway, just wanted to say how impressed I was with Byron and how much I enjoy watching him play and develop.

No chance of getting Schammer but perthaps Clive may be available at the end of the season

Byron is improving every time he takes the field. He's 18, already with 20-or so games to his name. Yes he is a South Aussie, but personally I would think that we'd need to see more than Stenglein on the table to even be remotely tempted.

I'd love to see Byron in the purple for 15 years as a 300 gamer!! A steal at pick 13 for us.

how about Clive for Carey... we could do with a decent forwards coach (sorry Malaxos).

what sane person would want to be a forwards coach with clive, wiz and meds all there. I'm sure they all hear little voices in their heads.
Clive: God told me to do it!!!
Wiz: No he didn't... he told me to do it!!!
Meds: I did not!!!

Schammer's aunty lives next door and she thinks he is happy in Perth.

Yeah he's already stated he's happy here in the west. Not a bad sign for someone who is still a kid.

Hands off :)

Further more to that, I think we are going to have a higher retention of interstate players in WA than other states. It's a pretty good lifestyle.

Pav was a worry early in his career but he has more than warmed to the place in recent times.

You've got to be kidding about Stenglein for Schammer, and I know you know you're dreaming. As he is as South Aussie I expect both the Adelaide clubs to go after him when he comes out of contract, and there's always a chance that he will go if lured. But you'll have to pay for him. This puts Freo in a win/win position. Keep him, and get a quality midfielder, trade him back to SA, get more than what we paid for him in pick 13. The AFL Phantom Draft of that year had Schammer at 5 or 6 I think, and on his career so far you'd have to say Freo did very well to snare him at 13.

You can keep Stenglein

I know it wouldn't be a straight swap for Stenglien. It would involve a draft pick as well.

Things can change quickly though. Other players like Headland might get back to some brilliant form and Schammer might spend more time on the bench or in the WAFL. And if he picks up an injury or something he might start thinking about how nice it would be to go home. And he comes out of contract at the end of the year(?).

Obviously this is a pipe dream - but stranger things have happened.

I'm well aware that he is a talented player who is currently very happy at Freo, and that Connolly will do a lot to hang onto him.

The Pope - does Schammer have more than one kid already? Gee whiz.
Sorry, forgot the
It's a standard comment about interstate people coming to/staying in Perth... ie when we were looking for coaches the stories were that Sheedy/Blight/Eade etc had enrolled their kids at <insert big $ private school name>.

Heres a few trades that i see as possibilities that we could posible accept if Sham wanted to go back to SA.

Adelaide
Schammer for Stinga + First Rnd pick (likely to be a pretty high pick considering the crows position)

Port
Schammer for J.Carr (i feel a clean trade would be fair considering how well Josh is playin)

On Josh Carr ive heard a rumour aound the traps that if port dont win the flag this season he wants to come back and play with Matty. Strictly a rumour though but i hope its true.

Schammer for J. Carr has virtually no chance of happening at this stage. A midfielder for midfielder trade wouldn't do us much good.

If you need an inconsistent tall backman or one of 29037498 half back flankers or a specialist tagger, talk to us.

The only good thing in that deal Porthos would be if both guys wanted to go home. A homesick S.Aussie for a homesick W.Aussie, both midfielders, might make for happier footballers. If they wanted to go home.

However, by all accounts, Schamm is happy here. And Joshy - well wouldn't have a clue, but rumour would have it that he wants to play with his brother. But who knows - as VC of a successful club he might be quite happy where he is.

Yeah, I don't see Josh being homesick. I do see Port more likely to work a deal with West Coast if he is though...they could really do with a player like him, whereas you already have a Carr.

Here's an amusing article on them.
