You are a pretty big person though, iirc? Like tall and solid.

Yea I suppose, but I'm probably the least threatening and least "look at me, I'm a massive hero" 6'5", 100kg person you'll see around as well. Also, wasn't the WAFL player from Perth who recently got king hit pretty solid too? Doesn't seem to matter if people really want to test you, but it just doesn't seem to be as prevalent in Adelaide from my experience.

Maybe you aren't seen as a target, because I've certainly seen shit go down in Adelaide, especially on a saturday night in the Western end of the CBD.

I practically live on the western side on weekends, and I've never seen a thing. Just fortunate to miss it I suppose.

I've been started on by randoms 3 times in the past year (one in broad daylight). Then again, I live in the Northern suburbs so maybe it's my fault.

90% chance.

I'm thankful I grew up in and live in Adelaide, where you can walk the city streets any time of the day or night without any danger whatsoever to your personal safety. I'd hate to have to live with such fear and paranoia, anticipating possible life events and attacks that haven't even happened yet.

its always good to be prepared tho. You never know whats waiting around the corner. i wonder if you would have been the same if you grew up around port augusta. I been there once and it looks like half that population of that town should be behind bars.

How's living in fear and being paranoid working out for you?

I don't live in fear for myself i can handle myself against anyone. I do live in fear for my little daughter and the world she is growing up in. I fear for her thats why i giving her the tools she needs in life to get thru situations of violence.

At school, me and my mates make up a group of about 20 people. At lunch time, we kick a footy around on one side of the oval. On the other side of the oval is another 20 people group who is in the same year. Lately, they've been coming over to our side of the oval at lunch just to steal our ball and run off with it, only to kick it over the fence (unfortunately this is a bit too easy to do because we're playing king of the pack). It's a good footy too, a mate of mine brings it and it's a proper $100 match sherrin.

Our group and theirs have never clashed before, we just keep to ourselves so they're doing it totally unprovoked. In the past when they've done it, we go after them and full on tackle them, only to get the ball back 20 minutes later (and wasting our whole lunchtime). We're a lot bigger than them, but they have us on speed. Unfortunately, they just keep doing it and it looks like they have fun annoying us.

Tomorrow if they do it again, we plan to distract them with the ball and get some guy to go over their side of the oval and steal their bags. If they try to fight us or are cowards and go to the teachers, we're just going to say that we're doing what they're doing, stealing. Personally I hate these guys so much that I hope they force us to fight them because we're just so much bigger than them that they'll be bruised everywhere and maybe they'll finally learn their lesson and never bother us again.

Anyone have any better suggestions on how to handle this situation?

Actually, you're giving her the tools to create situations of violence.

I disagree . At the moment she is too young to understand what its all about but as she gets older she will use it as a defence not as a opportunity to create violence. She will be nurtured in the right way.

My daughter is 3 . I been teaching her boxing for a year. she can already throw a 5 punch combination. i don't think she will be bullied much as she grows older.

My daughter is 10, and girls bully each other by hateful words, lies and sly 'withdrawl from friendship' tactics.

Your daughter's five punch combination is ineffective. Boys rarely bully girls.

You'd be better off teaching your daughter how to make friends and influence people.
