Jack definitely got dropped to bolster Coburgs side as they are looking to secure a top 4 spot. I cant see any other reason why you would drop Jack. He did well last week.

Thorp is in for the Hawks and as we havnt bought in Moore or McGuane, it would suggest Terry plans to play Raines against a taller oppenent again. They have Franklin, Thorpe and Roughead while he have Thurstfield, Polak and Bowden.

One would think Thursty would get Ranklin and Bowden would go to Roughead and as Polak can't play 1-on-1 it would seem Raines will go to Thorp. Polak really needs to stand up and take Roughead or Thorp IMO

I also just noticed they have effectivly bought in 3 fowards into the side. Schultz plays FF, Hyde has been playing HHF for most of the year wiht spells in the middle and Hartigan has been playing foward for Coburg.

I wonder well Terry will decide to play Harts, foward or back? I think he should start in the foward pocket personally, he can kick goals and his poor foot skills shouldn't be as much of a burdin (I mean that contruvtivly)

I hope he has big game

Yeah I like harts. Has had so many injuries during his career. His hardness would be very handy

Schultz doesn't really play anywhere! He's had one good game, averages under a goal a game and that's his only job. He's gonnnnnnnneeeeeee!

If he played he would probably only have 2 possessions anyway. No use playing him in the seniors until next year. He isn't ready

Sometimes you are right.

If his name was Jack Smith he wouldn't even be in the system...yet....

I have no real expectations for this guy

Happy with those changes.:thumbsu:

Riewoldt is better getting time at Coburg in his first year than being used sporadically in the senior team.
I agree, he's not ready

no riedwolt is not ready but as you guys say its a big step from vfl to afl so why not give the kid some games in the seniors to get experience because we are clearly not going anywere this season.

say we send him back to coburg and he gets BOG again he is not going to be any closer to being ready for afl.

where as if we play him for the rest of the season or even just a few more weeks, then next season he will have 5 or so games under his belt and will be better prepared.

Cant believe Hyde will play.

Look for him to be the late withdrawal.

or we let him get his experience and fitness up playing full games at coburg, then with a strong preseason putting on a few kgs he mite be ready next year, however history tells me he will have a sort of down year and everyone will cal for his head. still a few years off consistant seniors

Better for Jack's development at this stage to play a full game at Coburg in a set position rather than play less than 50% gametime for Richmond being moved all over the place.

Wouldn't surprise if Thursfield went to Roughead and Raines to Franklin. Plough seems to be perservering with Thursfield on the big forwards, though I'm not sure why. He doesn't have the height or strength to match them and he doesn't get enough of the ball to run off them and hurt the other way.

might not quite have the height but his leap and go go gadget arms more than compensate, hes our best bet at FB and is doing a fine job. Gherig gave rutten a bath and rutten has a much better support crew down back than thursty has. He'll be fine.

Raines on Franklin on the other hand.... fingers crossed that the whisper that franklin may miss is on the money...

raines on franklin could be genius, as franklins key to his is not marking. everyone should remember polo beating and even the year before moore beat him, put a strong spoiling defender or stron marker on him is useless

your really on top of things arent ya

he is as much moved around at coburg then he is at richmond, started in the forward line and dominated and since kingsley has come into the side he is playing back and floating around chadley cornes-style

good for a coburg result but rubbish for his overall development

Franklin is a better contested mark than he is given credit for on Bigfooty, but still most of his marks come on the lead. Basically his game involves giving a lead. If he doen't get it, he runs on, does a big turning circle, then comes back on the outside looking for a handball receive. He is very effective at getting away from an opponent in doing this. He is good at getting into space, and Raines is possibly the best option to prevent that, although needs Polak to chip in to cut off the initial lead.

Thursfield has been very ordinary the last game and a half. Possibly because of mismatches. But much like Gaspar, If he doesn't negate his opponent, he is a bit of a dead loss in attack. Could probably be a good match for Franklin, and before his knee injury would have been first choice. But I just get the impression he has been spared those type of tasks since he came back from injury, and it may be next season before he gets thrown those tasks again.

I really like the Ins. Reiwoldt isn't ready for seniors. I couldn't see him having any impact yet
People probably said the same thing about Buddy and Roughhead. It doesn't matter, you just leave them in the side and they learn 10 times faster.

Clarkson left his younger players in the side and they got smashed, but they learnt alot. Having Jack in the two's means we still get smashed, but our future stars learn nothing.

three names that should have the word - "OUT" next their names at the end of the season. Totally irrelevant...who are forging an AFL career when they should be playing in the surbuban league. ;)
