Our CHB savior is Alex Rance, make no mistake, this guy has the goods

Honestly can't see Schultz turning it around, I would have though he has too much bulk and not enough speed for a backman

Of course he is. Give him 3 years and he will be a gun CHB.

Now I know it's early but if Jay can make a real fist of CHB it'll be an answer to a lot of our defensive woes.
Initial signs are good..

I agree with you magic
shultz looked the goods at CHB before he broke his ankle a while back. He is only "useless" down forward because richo and jay and like magnets and can't function in the same forward line. for now, whilst rance and the likes are developing, theres no reason why he couldn't hold down CHB - freeing up polly and bowden.

Not sure about our saviour. That's a bit rich. But they may as well try him at CHB in the pre-season and see what he's got. Tell him 'It's defence for you Jay or bye-bye at the end of the season'.
Advice for Jay: when you get to this level, not everyone can play in the glamorous positions like FF or CHF. There's a hole at CHB that is there for the taking if you want it and if you're up to it. The rest is up to you.

i dont know why you guys think schulz is our saviour CHB, from what i saw today i thought he played quite poorly. He makes too many mistakes down there and doesnt look strong enough down there even though he probably weighs around 95kgs (same with polak).

Schulz is a stay at home FF we just need to play him there consistently for a year and see what he can do. He's still young so theres still a chance he could come on.

Back to our CHB saviour, i reckon alex rance could be it. This guy is a monster for an 18 year old, has great skills and is very strong. He played on riewoldt today first and i thought he matched him and then he went to richo and i reckon he beat him. Looks impressive:thumbsu:

What ...? .. initial signs 5 years ago ?

LMAO @ people who still rate Jay Schulz

Dud in the Ray Hall mould ....

Thank **** someone said it!!! Early signs... pffff... after 5 years, dont you think Schulz whould've shown something by now.

Let me say one thing, Schulz would have his arseh*le torn to shreds in the backline. Slow, dumb and needs near on perfect conditions to be anything more than ok.

Will have his passport stamped by round 7.

IDGAF... l'm with ya.

haha Schulz
Haha Bluesforever, At this present point I don't really give a $hit whether Shultz gets a kick or not next year, If he does great (and he knows it) If not back to SAFNL for him ( Not rocket science) But if he goes alright, beauty, I'm sure you'll be the first troll I remind.

Where has this Schulz playing CHB well in the past myth come from?

He got a couple of games at the end of 2005 as a third tall defender after Graham went down in round 20, and he played CHB briefly in the opening round mauling we got from the Dogs in '06...with three stellar possessions in a backline that had 25 goals kicked against it.

Next game Hamill busted his collarbone/shoulder, he'd had two handballs before that, and we preferred Thursty at CHB on Reiwoldt and Gaspar on Gehrig - Schulz was 3rd tall on Hamill.

I'd like to hope he'd do ok there because I've got a bit of time for him, but he's got no score on the board at CHB in actual matches so far.

Last of many last chances for Jay.

I'm hopeful he can find a spot somewhere. One of the few maturing KPP's we have.

I would have thought that Thursfield / Bowden / Polak are our starting KPP defenders though. I'd play him FF in the preseason and give Richo a rest. Win / win if you ask me.

:)SURPRISED no one has unleashed that ol' chestnut of a line yet....you know the one.....about him kicking six goals once against a strong Brisbane Lions!!!

Generally gets a run in these discussions.

That and the fact he is averaging 1.39642357 goals per game or wahtever.

Yr spot on ID man, Schulz is a never has been and never will be!

Time to pull the plug on this experiment!!

I'd love Schulz to turn it around and SHOW SOMETHING THIS YEAR !! ANY '****ING' THING !!

But 'Magic17' you should be red carded for that thread title (jk) ;)

*Picture the inside corridor of a series of jail cells. There are only a handful of cells, and they are all in a line. The one doorway at the end of the corridor is fully secured.
Above the doorway a small sign says "2008 Death Row".
Now if you can read the name above the cell closest to the doorway, it reads, "Jay Schulz". (Probably Kelvin Moore close by too).

So Magic17 before you start seeing Schulz as a Saviour, he needs to be a regular, PERFORMING, Senior player first.

Schulz = CHB Saviour (Wrong)
Schulz = Dead Man Walking (Right)

He needs to pull a rabbit out off his ass in 2008, or his ass will not be at RFC in 2009.

Cheers

Red carded for positivity?;)

BTW I was wondering when you'd wander into this thread deli.:D

Jay has much better skills than Ray Hall and yet is tougher & tighter than Polak.
My biggest concern about him making it in the role is his motor and yes concentration might be a factor..

However I really can't see a better candidate at this point aside from Joel Bowden and neither can Wallace hence his experiment there with Schulz this pre season.

At the end of the day either it works or it doesn't.

If it doesn't Jay won't be at the RFC in '09 but hopefully for the sake of the RFC he leaves you with egg on your face.
